Maintenance Supervisor
Job Summary
Purpose
Reporting to the Director of Preventative Maintenance, the Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for coordinating and supervising the work of colleagues in the general maintenance and upkeep of the Hotel, grounds, and equipment.
Work will entail patrolling both indoor and outdoor areas to note problems and determine needed repairs. The Maintenance Supervisor will conduct periodical checks on all systems of the building, which includes plumbing, elevators, heating, and air conditioning, as well as other related mechanical components of the building.
Duties include participation in the recruitment process, scheduling and training.
Requirement .
Principal Responsibilities
- Provide guidance to maintenance colleagues.
- Review and assign work to maintenance colleagues.
- Prepare and monitor work schedules.
- Conduct a daily tour of the building to identify areas that need attention.
- Coordinates and inspects the repairs performed on the electrical, plumbing, heating, cooling, ventilation systems mechanical and other related systems of the hotel.
- Coordinates and inspects painting, wall patching, security hardware and landscaping.
- Ensure prompt repairs by responding to emergency breakdowns.
- Comply and enforce all Health & Safety regulations in the workplace including the correct use of personal protective equipment as required.
- Investigate accidents and prepare relevant reports.
- Provide support and be familiar with the Environmental Management System; and constantly be aware of any specific duties outlined in the program.
- Complete special assignments or projects as assigned (eg. Green Team; capital projects)
- Attend training as required.
- Monitor inventory of materials and equipment
- Ensure all policies, procedures and practices are adhered to.
- Perform other tasks as assigned by the Director of Maintenance & Engineering and / or the Director of Preventative Maintenance.
- Address concerns with the Maintenance Coordinator, the Director of Maintenance & Engineering and the Director of Preventative Maintenance.

Academic and Working Qualifications
Working Experience
- Previous supervisory experience is required. Experience in a Maintenance / Engineering office is an asset.
- Experience supervising or working within a unionized environment is an asset.
- Flexibility to work any shift, including weekends and evenings.
Knowledge
- Strong computer skills. Proficient in Microsoft applications e.g. Word, Excel, Office.
- Familiar with the Occupational Health & Safety Act and Regulations.
- Must have technical skills and knowledge of various crafts such as carpentry, plumbing etc. with a general knowledge of electrical, plumbing, HVAC systems and swimming pool maintenance.
- Strong verbal communication skills. Must be able to instruct employees in the performance of required tasks.
- Strong knowledge of administrative tasks such as scheduling is essential.
Education
- High school diploma;
- Degree from a vocational school is an asset
- Professional Certifications (e.g. CMRP or HVAC certified) are preferred

Language
Fully fluent and able to communicate in English (oral and written).
Physical Requirements
- Must be physically fit and mobile with the ability to patrol all areas of the Hotel
- Must able to bend, lift, kneel and carry materials if required.
- Must be able to ascend and descend stairs.
