Role Responsibilities
Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Operations Engineer will provide assistance with the day-to day administration and delivery of the highway maintenance program.
Working within the district / region, the Operations Engineer assists the Operations Manager by providing the leadership, technical support and expertise required to ensure that the highway maintenance program as well as other projects are delivered within the scope, cost, time and quality of the department's satisfaction within a safe work environment.
The Operations Engineer provides advanced technical support for delivery of departmental programs, with key responsibilities in the areas of budget control, financial reporting and program development, information and upkeep of information technologies and assistance to field staff.
This position also assists with the preparation and administration of small contracts and service agreements for projects such as culvert installations and pavement patching.
The Operations Engineer also provides recommendations and solutions for issues regarding conflict resolution, problem solving and decision-making.
The main responsibilities of the Operations Engineer are (but not limited to) :
- Assisting the Operations Manager in supervising the Highway Maintenance Contracts.
- Providing engineering support on behalf of the Operations Manager to the Infrastructure section for development permits and highway planning.
- Providing technical support to the Operations Manager for roadway operations and smaller projects.
- Assisting the Operations Manager in dealing with the public, stakeholders and municipal authorities.
