Overview
Report directly to the Engineering Manager. This position is responsible for overseeing and managing the design and detail engineering activities of industrial electrical equipment and products, including development of electrical drawings, sizing of electrical components, preparation of bill of materials, and technical support for other departments.
Working knowledge of CSA and UL standards, hazardous location classification and requirements is required. PLC programming knowledge and / or experience is preferred. The role requires full‑time onsite presence every day for close interaction with the fabrication and engineering teams at our manufacturing facility in Calgary, AB.
Primary Duties
- Provide technical leadership and guidance on the design, specification, and implementation of electrical systems and control panels.
- Provide status updates to the Engineering Manager and Project Management Team.
- Collaborate closely with colleagues in North America, Europe, and Asia to review and finalize schematics, layouts, single‑line diagrams, and control system designs.
- Prepare, review, and approve drawings, bills of materials, and other engineering documentation.
- Review and interpret project specifications, engineering codes, and standards to ensure compliance during all phases of the design and manufacturing process.
- Issue technical documents and drawing packages for the manufacture of products.
- Provide engineering and technical support to internal departments (Sales, Production, Purchasing, Quality) and external clients.
- Participate in client meetings, kick‑off meetings, design review meetings, and operation meetings.
- Ensure that all electrical control panels meet regulatory requirements, industry best practices, and internal quality standards.
- Respond to inquiries in a time‑sensitive manner to maintain delivery deadlines.
- Follow all company procedures.
- Participate in commissioning, testing, and troubleshooting of electrical systems, both remotely and on‑site when required.
- Maintain computer data, files, and document records.
Safety

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.Proficiency in electrical design software such as AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN, SEE Electrical, and / or SOLIDWORKS Electrical.Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation.Minimum of 5 years of relevant industrial working experience with a focus on power systems, control systems, and automation.Working knowledge of PLC programming is preferred.Familiarity with the following codes and standards is preferred :
