Required Education and Experience : High school diploma or GED. Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program or 1 year of Medical Assistant work experience within the last 2 years.
Medical Assistant Certification must be obtained within 90 days of employment. Current BLS certification or to be completed within first 90 days of employment.
Essential Functions
Schedules all chemotherapy, injections, labs, scans, biopsies, education, financial counselor, bone marrow, physician appointments according to written orders.
Adheres to all scheduling protocol guidelines.
Enters all lab and diagnostic test in diagnostic test tracking template and labs in soft lab according to written orders.
Enter referrals / precepts timely and consult request.
Accepts responsibility for reading and referencing new policies and procedures. (i.e. clinical services news letter, staff meetings).
Provides patient and family pre-test instructions as directed by physician.
Utilizes good standards for phone etiquette. Recognizes and responds to emergency situations.
