Financial Analyst
Our client, a government institution, is seeking a dedicated Financial Analyst to join their team in a hybrid role. This position is crucial for ensuring the integrity of financial processes and providing strategic financial insights.
The successful candidate will play a key role in compliance reviews, special financial assessments, and supporting various stakeholders with essential financial information and advice.

Responsibilities :
- Conduct compliance reviews as an Accounting Officer (AO), delivering appropriate financial analysis and developing strategies to address errors and irregularities.
- Complete sensitive and special financial reviews, including cases of employee theft and personal use of P-Cards.
- Serve as a financial resource for various stakeholders within the Ministry, including Expenditure Officers and program staff, providing essential financial information and advice.
- Assist stakeholders with decision-making by offering detailed financial analysis and business advice.
- Navigate the complexity of multiple integrated management / financial information systems used across the Ministry, adapting to frequent upgrades and new system introductions.
- Continuously learn and apply new knowledge to adapt to the evolving financial environment.
What you will need to succeed :
- Relevant post-secondary education in business administration, accounting, or finance (including degrees, diplomas, and certificates).
- 3 years of experience in financial reporting, ensuring the accuracy and reliability of financial statements, and using Microsoft Excel.
- 3 years of experience working in accounting systems, creating processes, managing budgets, and implementing internal controls.
- 3 years of relevant experience in a similar role.
- 1 year of experience with process improvement, documentation, and requirement gathering.
- 1 year of experience working with Information Technology accounting and processes.
- Strong analytical, decision-making, and organizational skills.
- Experience working in or for the public sector.
- Knowledge of accounting principles and Canadian public sector accounting standards or equivalent.
- Attention to detail.
- Clear verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with various stakeholders.
