Position Description

Reporting directly to the CEO, the Finance Manager / Controller, is a full-time permanent role based at Macaloney’s Island Distillery and Twa Dogs Brewery, located at 761 Enterprise Crescent in Victoria, BC. This key role will oversee, manage, and be responsible for all financial aspects of the business and support other functions including regulatory compliance. This role is ideal for a hands-on, results-oriented professional with strong communication skills and strategic thinking ability. As a key member of the team, you will have a passion for accurate financial reporting and compliance, driving long-term growth, and fostering a collaborative, thriving workplace culture.

Key Responsibilities

• Own a smooth, timely month-end process that supports real-time operational decisions and maintain all supporting accounting schedules and subledgers (bank reconciliations, inventory costing, production models, etc.).
• Oversee any monthly management financial statements (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow projections) and be the primary contact for any external reporting requirements – including audits.
• Assist the CEO with the development of the annual budget and long-term financial forecasts and track results against budget and provide monthly variance analysis.
• Oversee accounts receivable to ensure timely collections and minimize uncollectible balances, coordinating with the Order Desk to process.
• Oversee accounts payable, including semi-monthly reporting, FX management, and invoice processing (QBO / EKOS) – currently includes entering all invoices and payment remittance preparation.
• Provide ad hoc financial analysis and detailed insights into trends, costs, and budget compliance to support management decisions.
• Prepare all tax filings : income tax, GST, PST, excise, foreign (VAT, UK income tax), and SR&ED claims.
