My Client is one of the largest and Custom Home manufacturing facilities in the industry. Based in Kelowna, they are looking for an experienced Drafting Technician to join their team.
The Drafting Technician reports to the Drafting Manager and is tasked with creating and preparing designs and drawings using AutoCAD.
This role involves ensuring that design drawings meet specifications and design data requirements. Duties include preparing and interpreting both traditional and CAD engineering designs, drawings, and specifications for manufacturing purposes.
- Create and develop designs and drawings based on initial concepts, sketches, specification sheets, and other provided data.
- Use AutoCAD and drafting workstations to execute tasks.
- Assemble documentation packages and generate drawing sets.
- Familiarity with Canadian Electrical Codes and BC Plumbing Codes is advantageous.
- Experience with Part 3 and Part 9 of the building code is also beneficial.
- Review and ensure that design drawings meet specifications and design data requirements.
- Generate cut lists.
- Utilize both traditional and computer-assisted methods to prepare designs, drawings, and specifications.
- Prepare estimates for costs and materials.
- AutoCAD Technician certification or a similar qualification is preferred.
- 5-7 years of experience using AutoCAD, including familiarity with standardized drafting practices.
- Experience with MiTek Truss design or a comparable system is advantageous.
- Preference will be given to candidates with residential project experience.
- A certificate or diploma in engineering design and drafting technology, mechanical engineering, or a related field is considered beneficial.
- Strong planning and organizational skills are required.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team is essential.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office software, especially Excel, is important.
- Previous experience in cost estimation is a plus.
