Reporting to the Director of EH&S, the Manager of Environmental, Health & Safety (EH&S) has responsibility for the continuous improvement and support of the Corporate EH&S programs for Sterigenics.
This position will provide support and training to twelve (12) designated facilities to ensure compliance with all federal, state and Company EH&S requirements.
This role supports our sterilization facilities in the Radiation West region and can reside in the Dallas / Fort Worth, Southern or Northern California, or Chicagoland, IL area.
Major Responsibilities
As Manager of Environmental, Health & Safety, the major areas of responsibility include the following :
Environmental Support
- Become familiar with federal, state and local environmental requirements for identified plants.
- Provide ongoing support and training to the plants for compliance with the current environmental requirements.
- Prepare environmental permit applications, when needed. Also prepare and submit regulatory agency reports.
Health & Safety Support
- Support ongoing implementation of the Corporate EH&S System at identified plants including the development of standards and work instructions.
- Provide training and training materials to the facilities for required safety training topics.
- Assist plant safety committees as needed to improve the safety awareness in identified plants.
- Support implementation of Radiation Safety Management Programs at designated facilities.
- Conduct Root Cause Analysis and Risk Assessments and follow up on any issues generated.
- Assist in Worker Compensation claim management.
- Conduct incident investigations and corrective / preventative actions for all incidents. Assist the facility in incident tracking and trend evaluations.
- Participate in and conduct periodic inspections and lead EH&S Corporate Audits for all facilities. Follow up on all items with appropriate management.
- Coordinate and support ongoing compliance requirements.
- Work closely with Operations, Engineering, and QA departments to ensure continued EH&S compliance and further support EH&S corporate initiatives.
Minimum Educational Requirements, Experience, and Abilities
- Bachelor’s Degree, in a technical discipline is preferred. Equivalent certifications and demonstrated experience will be considered.
- Seven or more years of Environmental, Health & Safety experience, preferably in the medical device or pharmaceutical or chemical industries.
- Strong knowledge of Federal, state, and local EH&S related regulations.
- Experience in regulatory compliance requirements in international locations is preferred. (Canada, Brazil and Mexico)
- Basic understanding of Radiation Safety.
- Computer proficiency ability, Microsoft Office preferred.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Well organized, ability to manage multiple locations and projects.
- Approximate overnight travel required : 30%.
