About the Role
The Financial Reporting and Lender Relations team at Brookfield Renewable is comprised of trusted professionals who interact with every part of the business to provide strategic guidance and independent oversight.
Through our strict adherence to deadlines, and with a strong sense of integrity, we help mitigate potential risks of non-compliance with our project financing arrangements to our North American operating and development businesses.
The Financial Reporting and Lender Relations team plays a critical role in ensuring the financial health and stability of the organization’s operating and development projects in North America.
Through meticulous financial reporting, proactive relations with our lenders, tax-equity partners, and joint-venture partners, and robust compliance efforts, we contribute to the overall success and growth.

We foster meaningful process improvements and ensure adherence to internal and external regulations. We work effectively and efficiently under tight deadlines, consult with our internal and external stakeholders, and submit required deliverables to satisfy compliance obligations of today, provide confidence for the same around the corner, and help keep our obligations in check.
Key Responsibilities
A typical day for someone in this role involves the precise and timely review of monthly, quarterly, and annual audited financial statements.
They conduct in-depth financial data analysis to generate comprehensive reports for lenders, tax-equity, joint-venture partners, and internal stakeholders, ensuring all activities comply with accounting standards and regulations.
They implement best practices to enhance reporting efficiency and accuracy and coordinate external audits by preparing schedules and providing documentation.
In lender relations, they build positive relationships, serve as the primary contact for inquiries, monitor and communicate financial performance metrics, and assist the Capital Markets team in discussions and negotiations.
For compliance and risk management, they review financial contracts to identify reporting obligations, ensure compliance, and implement internal controls.
They continuously improve reporting processes, identify opportunities for automation, and address challenges to enhance accuracy and reliability.
They also provide ad hoc support to other departments and prepare regulatory compliance forms accurately and timely.
Financial Reporting
- Review quarterly, and annual audited financial statements with precision and timeliness
- Oversee and conduct in-depth analysis of financial data to generate comprehensive reports for lenders, tax-equity and joint-venture partners, and internal stakeholders
- Coordinate and facilitate the annual external audit and internal controls over financing reporting processes, including managing audit issues as they arise.
- Monitor and communicate financial performance metrics to management demonstrating accountability and transparency
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements in all financial reporting activities
- Implement best practices to enhance efficiency and accuracy
Lender Relations
- Direct a team of accountants responsible for being the primary point of contact for lender, and tax-equity and joint-venture partners inquiries and requests
- Build and nurture positive relationships with lenders, and tax-equity and joint-venture partners to foster collaboration and trust
- Assist our Capital Markets teams with discussions and negotiations with lenders, and tax-equity and joint-venture partners to address any financial concerns or issues
Compliance and Risk Management
- Review and analyze financing and partnership agreements and other financial contracts to identify reporting obligations and ensure compliance
- Oversee ongoing compliance with financing and partnership agreements, partnership agreements, and tax equity arrangements to mitigate risks
- Implement and maintain internal controls to safeguard financial integrity
Process Improvement
- Continuously evaluate and enhance financial reporting processes to streamline operations and improve efficiency
- Manage technology adoption and coordinate automation to optimize workflows and reduce manual efforts
- Proactively address challenges and implement solutions to enhance the accuracy and reliability of financial reporting
Support Functions
- Direct ad hoc support to other departments within the organization, particularly in Capital Market and M&A activities and credit rating reviews
- Build cross-functional workstreams to ensure alignment and synergy in financial reporting and lender, and tax-equity and joint-venture partners relations efforts
Knowledge and Experience Required
- Designated Canadian CPA
- Experience in working for a publicly listed company (NYSE or TSX) or the Big Four accounting firms
- Understanding and willingness to embrace Brookfield Renewable’s core values
- Attention to detail and ability to prioritize, multitask and meet tight deadlines with flexibility to work additional hours when needed during peak periods
- In-depth understanding of generally accepted accounting principles IFRS and U.S. GAAP
- Strong exposure to accounting, financial reporting and consolidations application packages
- Exceptionally strong Excel skills with the ability to learn new systems quickly
- Exposure to complex debt and financing arrangements considered an asset
Note : Offices continue to be central to collaboration and Brookfield’s identity. This position requires the employee to be on-site for a minimum of 4 days to perform most effectively.
