The Opportunity
This a day shift position, from 7am to 3 : 15pm (with some overtime required).
Position Description
The primary responsibility of this role is inspecting and repairing specially classified pumps. Responsibilities and duties include, but are not limited to, the following :
- Interpret and understand complex drawings and work instructions.
- Perform precise fitting operations, including balancing, leveling, and aligning motors, bearings, shafts, impellers, and pump cases.
- Bend, fit, tack weld, and test intricate piping and tubing configurations.
- Identify potential issues in fit and function, collaborating with design engineering to make necessary adjustments.
- Diagnose faults and conduct thorough inspection and repair processes equipment.
- Rebuild pumps and complete testing fits and measurements.
- Maintain detailed inspection and build records.
- Perform fieldwork at customer sites as required.
Experience
- 3-5 years of experience in building, repairing, and / or maintaining rotating equipment, with a focus on rotating equipment.
- Experience with forklift and crane operations.
Qualifications
- Completion of a recognized apprenticeship as an Industrial Millwright or equivalent.
- Understanding of industry safety and health standards and practices.
- Ability to read, interpret, and follow complex engineering drawings, including understanding geometric tolerances, fit / function requirements, and industry specifications.
- Knowledge of additional processes such as welding, soldering, brazing, and basic machining.
- Organizational skills to maintain work area and tools.
- Interpersonal skills to collaborate with other trades and engineering personnel to resolve quality and performance issues.
- Personal toolbox required; the company will provide special tools and test equipment.
- Familiarity with basic computer software such as Microsoft Office to maintain records, log data, and obtain product information.
Education
Completion of a recognized apprenticeship as an Industrial Millwright or equivalent.
