Job Description
The Public Health Inspector delivers a wide variety of environmental, public health and health promotion programs through consultation, education, inspection and enforcement programs within an assigned geographical area.
Established programs deal with health hazards in buildings, water and sewage disposal systems, food premises and enforcement of tobacco control legislation.
The Public Health Inspector is also required to enforce The Plumbing Regulations and The Private Sewage Works Regulations and must be able to interpret and apply legislation, provide consultation services to the public and contractors and to conduct on-site inspections at construction sites.
EDUCATION Certificate in Public Health Inspection, Canada, CPHI(C) issued by The Board of Certification of the Canadian Institute of Public Health Inspectors Demonstrated maintenance of minimum requirements of the CIPHI Continuing Professional Competency Program Experience : Experience working as a Public Health Inspector is expected Experience and training in Occupation Health and Safety is preferred Experience and proficiency in common computer software programs and Windows Experience and training in Public Inspection software is preferred Other : Valid class 5 driver s license Mobility / reasonable level of physical fitness is required to conduct inspections Ability to travel to and within remote locations
