In addition to being a child protection helper, a Family Service Worker at Dnaagdawenmag Binnoojiiyag Child & Family Services is a family’s champion, advocate and support person .

What you will do :

  • You will visit with families, meet with children and youth, listen to their concerns, and help them alongside their support persons develop plans to improve their situations.
  • You will work closely with First Nations Designate Persons / Band Representatives to ensure the rights of First Nations children and youth are honoured, respected and adhered to.
  • You will connect families with the community resources and support services both internal and external they need and deserve.
  • You will attend Circles, court hearings and / or other meetings to advocate for the needs of the families you are supporting.
  • You will document the good work you do with families in a transparent and concise manner.
  • You will complete Indigenous Authorization Training.

Who you are :

You are a compassionate person who genuinely wants to see families thrive. You have a Bachelor of Social Work, are working towards one, or you feel you possess the necessary skills and lived experience for this role.

You have experience working alongside families in crisis. You are an excellent communicator who values openness, honesty and transparency.

You are a problem solver who works collaboratively with others to develop effective solutions for families. You are knowledgeable about the child welfare system, including relevant provincial and federal legislation, and you are comfortable challenging the status quo for the betterment of Indigenous children, youth, families, communities and Nations.

Note : Starting Salary is $68,934.04 - $83,083.03 plus all of the benefits listed below, with a total earning potential of $92,299.

We offer services such as Child & Youth Mental Health and Addictions, Youth Justice, Youth in Transition, Child Welfare, and Alternative Care.
