What is the Opportunity?

As part of an alliance agreement Aecon Nuclear has been awarded a contract with Ontario Power Generation to support the Darlington New Nuclear Project (DNNP).

Beginning in 2023 Aecon will support the validation phase design, procurement, early site preparation and site mobilization scope for the Construction of the Unit 1 Small Modular Reactor at the Darlington site.

Reporting to the Project Manager, the Field Engineer will be required to provide coordination and technical direction to construction and engineering resources on project design.

What You'll Do Here :

  • Responsible for the organization and direction of construction engineering personnel and activities relating to construction engineering and subcontracts
  • Provides technical direction to construction engineers and superintendents in a wide range of construction engineering and design functions relating to multi-discipline engineering in an area or to a single discipline on the overall project
  • Provides liaison with the design engineering group
  • Provides ongoing constructability input to the design group
  • Manages the complex organizational interactions that evolve from the project team and the client
  • Represents Design in respect to major items with suppliers
  • Interprets design drawings and specifications
  • Resolves technical problems encountered during the construction of the project
  • Supervises field verification of materials
  • Maintains project document control
  • Prepares change notices and amendments as directed
  • Monitors the cost and budget performance during construction, as assigned
  • Works in conjunction with the site Managers in developing and implementing work plans and procedures
  • Prepares deficiency reports and corrective action reports for project team Performs other duties and responsibilities as required

What You Bring to the Table :

  • Bachelor of Engineering Degree from a recognized university, or Diploma from a Technical College in Engineering and / or Architecture
  • Licensed as a Professional Engineer in Ontario or actively working towards
  • Previous work experience in Engineering and Architectural required
  • Minimum of 5 - 8 years of experience in building / construction industry
  • Proficient knowledge of project engineering processes and procedures
  • Able to perform in a fast-paced environment.
  • Comfortable with occasional travel between sites and head office.
  • Technical knowledge related to engineering systems, calculations and applications of engineering and construction methods and materials
  • Excellent computer skills using Adobe Acrobat, Auto CAD and SIM
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills Able to interact with external stakeholders.
