Health Information Management Professional - Permanent Full Time

REQUIRED EDUCATION & CERTIFICATION(S)
Graduate of an accredited Health Information Management Program
A member in good standing with the Canadian Health Information Management Association (CHIMA)
REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE(S)
Current Hospital experience in coding and abstracting Discharge Abstract Database (DAD) Inpatient visits and National Ambulatory Care Reporting System (NACRS) Emergency Room and Clinic visits.
In-depth knowledge with interpreting the CIHI Canadian Coding Standards, NACRS abstracting manual and ICD-10-CA / CCI databases is required.
Working knowledge of electronic health record systems (Cerner) and coding / abstracting programs (Med2020) is required.
Strong understanding of professional standards with respect to privacy, confidentiality, security of patient health information (access, use, and disclosure).
Familiarity with MOH funding and MIS reporting methodologies.
Participating in the Continuing Professional Education (CPE) program as defined by the governing regulation, in order to maintain certification.
Computer literacy and demonstrated ability with ADT systems, Microsoft Office, and report writing software.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Accurate data entry and keyboarding skills.
Effective interpersonal and communication skills, with an ability to set priorities in a busy work environment.
Excellent organizational and time management skills.
Ability to use good judgment, either working independently or in a group as a team member.

Hours of Work : Must be available to work Monday to Friday day shifts. S hifts and hours may change according to departmental re quirements per the collective agreement.
