In this role you will :
- Interpret financial reports and insights to support strategic financial and operational decision-making within the organization and identify risks and opportunities across the business.
- Enhance the organization's understanding of key financial and non-financial information to enable accurate budgeting and forecasting.
- Work with Management Accountants to analyze cost and performance drivers.
- Conduct onsite project reviews, comparing actuals, forecasts, and budgets to understand and explain variances.
- Collaborate with Management Accountants on labour reporting and project spend coding accuracy.
- Conduct deep dive project forecast reviews, assessing project risks, programme time and cost implications.
- Perform project transaction reviews to ensure expenditure is capitalizable and compliant with financial regulations.
- Review both operational and capital project performance and progress, ensuring alignment with financial standards and policies.
- Assess and review business cases to ensure investments align with WSL's strategic and risk profile.
- Collaborate with the project control team to track and drive asset capitalization.
- Provide financial leadership, training, and guidance to project managers.
In this role you will bring :
- Proven experience in construction and project accounting.
- Experience in construction contracts and associated contractual adherence.
- Ability to read and understand project programs, and their time & cost impact (e.g., Microsoft Project or Primavera P6).
- Strong business interrogation and analysis skills.
- Advanced excel skills.
- Degree qualified in Finance.
- CA or equivalent.
- Additionally, 7+ years working in management accounting plus 3 years minimum in a senior partnership role or project delivery role.
- Ability to provide robust financial review to business cases and have a whole of life view when assessing projects.
