SCS Manufacturing, Inc., a division of The Hazelwood Group, is seeking a full-time Labourer to join our team of hard-working, dedicated staff at our production facility in South Nanaimo, BC.

Our ideal candidate comes with related experience and isn’t afraid of a fast-paced, lean manufacturing environment. We manufacture everything from small parts to steel gravel boxes, so speed, accuracy, and attention to detail are desired traits.

Compensation

$22-$24 per hour, depending on experience and education.

Summary

The Labourer at SCS plays a pivotal role in the smooth operations of the warehouse and coating / plasma teams. They are responsible for a range of tasks including material handling, order picking, assisting in coating preparation, and ensuring accurate inventory management.

The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, safety-conscious, and capable of working efficiently within a team environment.

Job Duties

• Load, unload, and move products and materials manually or using equipment as required.
• Operate forklifts and other industrial equipment for efficient handling of materials.
• Assist in inventory management tasks such as counting, weighing, and checking materials.
• Pick orders accurately and prepare them for shipping, including proper stacking and wrapping.
• Ensure outbound materials meet quality standards before shipping.
• Participate in shop clean-up and maintenance activities to uphold a safe and organized work environment.
• Put away received materials in designated storage locations.
• Confirm completion of inventory transactions and maintain accurate documentation.
• Prepare parts for coating and assist in the application of stencils, decals, and other decorative elements.
• Clean equipment and perform routine maintenance as required.
• Adhere to company policies and procedures, especially regarding health, safety, and the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and WHMIS guidelines.
• Perform any other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• 1-3 years of experience working as a labourer in a warehouse / shipping environment.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• WHMIS certification.
• Forklift operator’s license will be considered an asset.
• Proficiency in operating manual and electric pallet trucks.
• Possession of a valid driver’s license.
• Ability to work independently.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Knowledge of safe lifting and handling techniques.
• Must be able to carry and move equipment and / or supplies in excess of 50 pounds.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Knowledge of safety protocols and willingness to adhere to them strictly.
• Other duties as required.
