The Role

The Senior Operations Engineer provides engineering solutions in support of safe and reliable operations and regulatory compliance at Gibson Energy assets. They promote “right‑sized” engineering design, creative solutions, and consistency through engineering design principles and expertise.

What You Will Do

• Provide project scoping, prioritization, and may provide cost and schedule estimates for Maintenance and MOC projects.
• Manage small MOC projects from inception to completion.
• Act as a key contributor to the identification and mitigation of risk.
• Participate in project and facility HAZOPs, PSSRs, and PHAs.
• Ensure priorities being driven by consistent application of risk assessments.
• Identifies and recommends changes or projects to improve asset performance in terms of reliability, safety, environmental performance, efficiency, and net revenue.
• Provide onsite technical support, troubleshooting, and optimization support to operating facilities.
• Act as initial technical point of contact and support for Operations and Maintenance teams, involving internal / external support as required.
• Provide Turnaround and Shutdown support.
• Recommending solutions to technical challenges and to ensure compliance with industry standards, codes, and regulations.
• Consults with other internal (and external) experts, Project Engineers / Managers, Operations and engineering contractors during FEED, detailed process engineering design, and start‑up activities on assigned projects.
• Ensures regulatory compliance for all engineering activities performed.
• Provides engineering support to ensure that maximum benefit is obtained from process or operational changes without negatively impacting the safety or operability of production facilities.
• Develops and fosters strong, positive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
• Provides training, guidance, and mentorship in the development of the capacity and capability of in‑house engineers.
• Demonstrates a personal commitment and proactive approach to Environment, Health & Safety (EH&S) through participation in all applicable EH&S programs and ensures safe operation of the branch, team or unit and compliance with all Company EH&S policies and procedures.
• May perform other duties as assigned.
