About the Opportunity
POSITION SUMMARY
Reporting to the Facilities Manager the Maintenance Technician participates in the work of a team performing building and general maintenance tasks, landscaping and horticultural functions, facility and infrastructure maintenance and repair, equipment operation, including the responsibility for procurement of materials, work orders, and record-keeping of each project.
Work is supervised by the Facilities Manager for adherence to instructions and established standards.
Duties are varied, following established service plan, procedures and policies with some judgment required to determine the most appropriate of a limited number of alternatives.
Non-routine or unusual situations are referred to the supervisor.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Duties and responsibilities of the Maintenance Technician include but are not limited to :
- Complete dailytasks assigned by the supervisor following legal, ethical, and organizationalstandards of practice, and ensuring quality of work in planned specificstrategies and steps that address problems or deficits exhibited in the work
- Perform routinegeneral maintenance tasks on facilities, equipment, and machinery including butnot limited to carpentry, framing, finishing, renovating, locksmithing,repairing, and furniture moving, to ensure that facilities are in good workingcondition
- Performinitial quality inspections, rectify deficiencies in procedures, and ensure allwork is completed correctly to the level of quality specified in the scope
- Repair and / orreplace broken window hardware and glass, appliances, interior and exteriorwooden / steel doors, damaged drywall and plaster
- Basictroubleshooting and diagnostics of electrical, HVAC, and mechanical systemsfollowing workplace health and safety procedures
- Performmiscellaneous painting, including priming, sanding, and patching
- Yardmaintenance including but not limited to cutting / trimming grass, picking upgarbage, spreading soil, and raking
- Regularlycommunicate with supervisor and co-workers about materials, preparationmethods, and application procedures, and continually work towards solutions
- Check work email daily for updates and communications, corresponds via email or text, and keeps accurate records of data and maintenance activities including timesheets, incident reports, forms, expense claims, inventory, and other documents as required
Other duties asrelated to the position and as reasonably assigned by the supervisor, or ascircumstances dictate, all within the context of The Link’s Mission, Vision,and Guiding Principles as well as a strong and progressive customer service andcommunity service orientation.
QUALIFICATIONS
- 5 years maintenance experience, including skills in patching and painting, plumbing, and carpentry.
- Ability to perform medium work or move objects exerting up to 20 pounds of force constantly, up to 40 pounds of force frequently, and / or up to 100 pounds of force occasionally.
- Ability to work in potential exposure to unfavorable conditions such as small spaces, smells, rodents, bedbugs, extreme temperatures, and hazards associated with equipment operation including fumes, oils, gases, dust, and mists.
- Ability to read and interpret documents and construction drawings.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team, with other community and related organizations to achieve The Link's goals and objectives.
- Writing and numeracy skills in order to satisfactorily record and maintain accurate data, correspond in writing via email or text;
complete timesheets, incident reports, forms and other documents accurately as required; and calculate and complete expense claims as needed.
- Emergency First Aid and CPR Level C, or willingness to obtain.
- Satisfactory Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Search, a clear Child Abuse Registry check with acceptable Prior Contact checks, and a clear Adult Abuse Registry check, all done within the last 3 months.
- Valid driver’s license and acceptable driver’s abstract (subject to approval).
- Access to a personal vehicle for work is required.
SALARY : $20.00 to $25.00 / hour based on qualifications.
HOURS OF WORK : Full-Time (Permanent) 40 hours per week - varied schedule.
