  • Hourly rate of $25.82 to $29.51

What You Will Be Doing

  • Prepare and serve all food items for a la carte and / or buffet menus according to hotel recipes and standards
  • Proactively prioritize tasks with the Chef de Partie or Journeyperson to maintain a consistently high level of service and quality
  • Ensure food quality, consistency, and quantity meet established expectations
  • Demonstrate positive behavior and performance consistently
  • Follow all food safety protocols and maintain a clean, organized kitchen
  • Manage food cost by controlling waste through FIFO rotation, proper ordering, storage, and preparation
  • Maintain productivity and labor cost by staying focused on daily tasks
  • Understand the menu, recipes, and presentations; identify potential allergens in each dish
  • Contribute ideas to menu development and assist with recipe creation and documentation
  • Liaise with Banquets, Restaurants, and Stewarding for smooth operational communication
  • Perform other duties as assigned

    • Qualifications

  • Minimum of 1 year recent experience in a hotel or restaurant kitchen at a comparable level of luxury service as a prep cook, apprentice, 3rd cook, or similar role
  • Cook’s Training certificate from a high school, college, or university
  • Current Food Safe Level 1 or equivalent recognized food safety certificate
  • Successful demonstration of high technical and artistic culinary skills in a practical cooking test
  • Successful demonstration of high culinary and food safety knowledge in a written test
  • Ability to taste all food products – meats, seafood, produce, dry goods, dairy
  • Fluent English language skills, written and verbal
  • Proven ability to communicate effectively, work within a team, and delegate to others
  • Excellent organizational skills and initiative with ability to work well with little supervision
  • Sound decision‑making skills and ability to prioritize tasks appropriately
  • High level of responsibility and accountability
  • Strong commitment to providing excellent service and exceeding guests’ expectations
  • Flexibility to work varying shifts, evenings, weekends, holidays, and early or late start times

    Must be legally eligible to work in Canada. The hotel is unable to assist candidates in obtaining Canadian work authorization.
