Overview

Job Summary – Seasoned Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) with 5+ years of experience in supporting complex, large-scale distributed systems. Highly skilled in managing production failures, conducting root cause analysis, and driving effective remediation. Strong communicator with expertise in ing, monitoring, and release management, complemented by automation proficiency and a keen ability to learn quickly.

Position Title – SRE Engineer

Location – Calgary, Canada

This role involves providing 24 / 7 support as part of the SRE team, ensuring the reliability and performance of mission-critical Java, .NET, and Batch applications deployed across GCP, PCF, and on-premise environments.

Years Of Experience Needed – 5+ Years

Responsibilities

• Understand large-scale production systems and technologies, including load balancing, monitoring, distributed systems, microservices, and configuration management.
• Troubleshoot and fix application failures, performance degradation, code issues, cloud platform issues, batch failures, infra failures, DB failures, and network failures.
• Perform production deployments using CI / CD and apply deployment strategies.
• Troubleshoot Linux / Unix environments.
• Monitor application / services / batch availability and respond to performance and availability incidents.
• Analyze issues (code / logs) and escalate to the Engineering team as required.
• Lead outage / major incidents and ensure fastest possible service restoration.
• Manage Incident, Problem, Release, and Change processes effectively.
• Own and deliver user stories as part of the sprint (from code debugging to production deployments and maintenance activities).
• Build monitoring solutions using APM tools (e.g., Splunk, AppDynamics, ThousandEyes, ITRS, AppMetrics, Moogsoft, Kafka).
• Automate day-to-day operational tasks.
• Participate in exit reviews to ensure best practices for production deployments.
• Provide feedback and improvements to create highly stable systems.
• Understand Networking Concepts (TCP / IP, SSL / TLS, IPSec, VPN, etc.), Firewalls and Load Balancers.
• Strong scripting experience (Shell / Powershell / Python).
• Experience with cloud-based infrastructure (PCF, GCP, AWS, Azure or others).
