Description de posteTake ownership of investigation assignments involving mechanical system failures or operational disruptions. Conduct on‑site inspections to evaluate design, installation, maintenance practices, and performance of mechanical systems. Analyze mechanical failures, defects, and damages to determine root cause with scientific rigor. Assess damage severity and provide expert guidance on repair / restoration options. Contribute engineering design expertise for system remediation and improvements. Review codes, standards, regulations, contracts, and technical documentation. Offer technical advisory support for insurance, legal, regulatory, and risk‑related matters. Develop detailed engineering reports that showcase your findings and recommendations. Act as an expert witness when required—translating technical insights into clear, defensible testimony. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and represent the organization in client meetings, presentations, seminars, and industry events. Support business development through exceptional client engagement and professional presence. Stay ahead of emerging engineering trends and industry best practices. Contribute to technical papers or publications. Uphold organizational and professional standards of excellence. Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation in a Canadian jurisdiction 5+ years of mechanical engineering experience; forensic or failure‑analysis experience is a strong asset Hands‑on experience with HVAC, plumbing / piping, boilers & pressure vessels, and heavy equipment Mechanical damage assessment experience required Experience with insurance, legal, or risk management partners is considered an advantage Expert witness experience is a bonus Exceptional written and verbal communication Proficiency with Microsoft Office and engineering tools (e.g., AutoCAD) Deep knowledge of mechanical codes, standards, and regulatory frameworks Strong analytical thinking and root‑cause problem‑solving capabilities Excellent project management and organizational skills Confident presenter with a client‑first mindset Work may include office‑based analysis, remote consulting, and on‑site investigations across industrial, commercial, construction, and residential environments Travel up to ~40% depending on file requirements Occasional lifting of field equipment (up to ~50 lbs)
