Your Team :

Join the Digital Engineering team at Flair as a Payments Analytics Engineer, a detail-oriented and data-driven builder with a strong interest in payments, financial accuracy, and platform reliability. In this role, you will support and evolve Flair’s in-house payment gateway and its integrations with reservation, commerce, and finance systems, helping ensure transaction data is accurate, visible, and trusted across the business. The Payments Analytics Engineer will thrive in a fast-moving, build-as-we-go environment, contributing to payment data pipelines, analytics, and operational support that directly impact revenue integrity and customer experience. You will work closely with Engineering, Finance, Risk, and Product teams, owning the analytics and data engineering layer that enables confident decision-making and faster issue resolution. This role plays a meaningful part in ensuring payments scale reliably as the business grows. Reporting into the Director, Software Engineering, you will collaborate cross-functionally, bringing a strong attention to detail, a problem-solving mindset, and the ability to balance technical depth with business-facing insights. The ideal candidate is comfortable working with high-volume financial data, enjoys digging into complex transaction flows, and is motivated by turning messy payment data into clarity.

This position is based on-site at any of our offices in Calgary (YYC), Edmonton (YEG), Toronto (YYZ) or Vancouver (YVR).

A Day in the Life :

As a Payments Analytics Engineer, you will :

• Build and maintain end-to-end payment analytics pipelines covering authorization, capture, settlement, refunds, chargebacks, and reconciliation.
• Design, develop, and optimize Snowflake data models to support payment analytics, financial reporting, and operational monitoring.
• Develop SQL-based dashboards, datasets, and reports used by Finance, Product, Risk, Engineering, and Leadership teams.
• Ensure data accuracy, traceability, and reconciliation between the in-house payment gateway, reservation systems, and downstream finance systems.
• Partner with backend engineers to instrument, validate, and analyze data from the payment gateway, booking platforms, and third-party processors.
• Validate data contracts, event consistency, and processing logic in collaboration with engineering teams.
• Monitor daily payment performance, identify anomalies, and support root cause analysis.
• Assist with settlement reconciliation, variance analysis, audit requests, and financial controls.
• Build datasets and tooling to support PCI DSS–related reporting, compliance requirements, and internal controls.
• Enable faster investigation and resolution of customer payment issues and disputes.
• Deliver insights on payment success rates, decline reasons, processor performance, cost optimization, fraud, and risk trends.
• Translate complex payment and transaction data into clear, actionable insights for non-technical stakeholders.

What You Bring to the Role :

Post-secondary education in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Analytics, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

Experience working with SQL in analytics or data engineering contexts, including complex queries and performance optimization.

Strong attention to detail and comfort working with high-accuracy financial data.

Clear criminal record check and satisfactory references.
