The Opportunity :
TheCommunity Services Accountants are all about making a difference in thecommunity. Responsible for maintaining the financial integrity of the CommunityServices division, this position brings analytical skills to the forefrontsupporting departmental leaders and their teams with financial guidance,reporting, and literacy.
CSVAccountants manage grants, coordinate operating and capital budgets, andoversee capital accounting and asset management.
As part of a supportive team,CSV Accountants focus collaborative efforts on financial projects that alignstrategic goals with the operational needs of the Community Services Division.
As our preferred candidate, you will have :
- Completion of an undergraduate degree majoring in accounting or finance. Completion of the CPA designation.
- Four years performing accounting duties and providing financial analysis and advice for a large organization, preferably within a municipal community services environment.
- Must have knowledge of generally accepted accounting principals (GAAP), specifically as they relate to a municipal accounting environment and procedures as applied in an integrated computer environment.
- Four years’ experience in the use of complex computerized accounting systems.
- Knowledge and experience with business software such as Word and Power Point is required with advanced Excel skills.
- Demonstrates the City of Red Deer’s four RISE principles of Respect, Integrity, Service and Excellence.
- Demonstrable experience in applying accounting theory in conjunction with approved policies and procedures.
- Strong ability to process a high volume of information accurately on a daily basis and within tight deadlines is necessary.
- Must be able to manage several tasks at once, some with conflicting priorities.
- Experience in leading, training and educating staff.
- Ability to problem solve and communicate effectively both verbally and in writing, with a variety of internal and external stakeholders including consultants, government officials and agencies is required.
- Proficient use of basic office equipment, i.e. photocopier, fax machine, calculator, etc.
- Working knowledge of office, accounting and records management procedures.

Remuneration :
$46.00 to $48.42 per hour.
Hours of Work :
75 hours biweekly, Monday to Friday. Some evening and weekend work may be required.
