Registered Psychiatric Nurse Mental Health Nurse

About the Role
Prosperity Workforce Solutions is seeking an experienced Mental Health Nurse to join a multidisciplinary outpatient mental health team in Edmonton AB. This role focuses on delivering evidence-based mental health care to adults with an emphasis on operational trauma occupational health and deployment-related care.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive bio-psychosocial assessments and develop individualized treatment plans
• Deliver direct mental health care aligned with DSM-V diagnoses
• Provide supportive counselling using CBT Solution-Focused Therapy Strengths-Based approaches and Motivational Interviewing
• Monitor client progress and adjust care plans based on outcomes
• Design and facilitate psycho-educational programs (individual and group)
• Provide medication monitoring education and therapeutic follow-up
• Deliver brief interventions for clients in acute distress
• Participate in interdisciplinary case conferences and care planning
• Conduct pre-deployment and post-deployment health assessments
• Provide clinical recommendations related to workplace or employment limitations
• Liaise with internal teams and external healthcare providers
• Support mental health outreach and awareness initiatives

Required Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in Nursing from a recognized institution AND one of the following:
  • Post-graduate Certificate in Mental Health Nursing
  • CNA Certification in Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing (CPMHN)

OR Bachelor of Science in Psychiatric Nursing (or equivalent)

Also open to BScN Psychiatric Nursing diploma combination

• Minimum 3 years of mental health nursing experience within the last 5 years
• Experience in adult community mental health settings
• Strong skills in psychotherapy CBT solution-focused therapy and crisis intervention
• Current RN license in Alberta
• BLS or CPR/AED Level C (or willingness to obtain)

Hours: 37.5/week 7.5 hr days M-F days (typically 730-4) 1 hour lunch-time

T4 Employee/Direct-Hire Work for Calian

Hourly Rate: $60.90

Location: Work on a military base (DND Department of National Defense)

Population: military members (18) adults only just coming off frontline goal is to get them back to the field or go home

Contract End Date: March 2027 But Calian renews contracts annually

  • Proof of three consecutive years of mental health experience in Canada within the past five years
• Photo ID
• Citizen or PR card
• VSC (within the last 2 years)
  • CBC (Calian will request) - Inform candidate
• BLS/CPR cert. (HCP - Healthcare Provider)
• Proof of RN license in province
• Mental Health/Psychiatric cert. if applicable (must be with CNA - Canadian Nurses Association)
• WHMIS (if they have a valid the last 2 yrs) if not Calian will obtain/ask them to complete
