Assistant Professor, General Management

About the Role

The Department of General Management and Human Resources at Mount Royal University (Calgary) invites applications for a three-year, limited-term faculty position in the area of general management at the rank of Assistant Professor beginning August 15, 2026. The successful candidate will teach courses that align with their expertise or background, including General Management core classes : Management Principles and Practices, Business Communication, Organizational Behaviour, and Strategic Management. The successful candidate may also have the opportunity to teach a departmental elective course or develop and deliver a special topic course in General Management in the future. Applicants are encouraged to highlight their qualifications and interests in each applicable subject area of interest.

This 3-year, limited-term appointment is offered on MRU’s teaching / service pattern (TS) that has a focus on teaching and service rather than research. Therefore, the successful candidate will be expected to teach eight 3-credit hour courses per academic year and will be an active participant in various service roles. Class sizes average between 35-40 students per section.

Responsibilities

• Instruction : prepare materials for course delivery including course outlines, resources, readings, activities, lessons, assessments, and learning management systems; support and respond to students outside of scheduled class time; deliver assigned courses; and
• Administration : administer final exams, input final grades upon course completion, and participate in course-related meetings, as required; and
• Service : may include : coaching student competition teams, mentoring student clubs, assisting with the development of curriculum, and serving on departmental or university committees; and
• Community : At Mount Royal University our industry connections are an important and integral part of our programs. The successful candidate will be required to actively liaise with industry partners or professional associations on behalf of the Bissett School of Business.
