SSR Mining Seabee Gold Operation (SGO) is hiring for a Process Engineer Co-op Intern .

About Your New Role :

Reporting to the Supervisor, Metallurgy, the Process Engineer Co-op Intern assists the metallurgical team by arranging and conducting mill sample campaigns, performing lab scale test work, and optimizing mill performance to determine mill bottlenecks.

You will work closely with experienced metallurgical staff and operations teams to support production and optimize process efficiency.

You will work on specialized projects to increase production facility performance. The Intern will work with other departments to ensure the safe operation of Seabee.

You will be a role model of a safety program that promotes a culture of safety and health of all employees working in and or with the Mill / Pox Plant - Operations Department.

Your Key Responsibilities :

Work with process to determine mill bottlenecks and help determine best course of action.

Collaborate with Superintendent and Supervisor, Metallurgy to monitor plant parameters, identify deviations, and suggest optimization solutions.

Work with Metallurgy staff and operations teams to develop and implement process optimization strategies aimed at improving recovery rates and reducing operational costs.

Conduct various laboratory tests including carbon attrition and activity, bottle roll cyanidation, diagnostic leach, flocculation, and GRG tests to optimize plant performance.

Plan, coordinate, and support mill sampling campaigns for accurate data collection and analysis.

Engage in mill process operations such as sampling, analysis, testing, and reporting.

Conduct metallurgical accounting to ensure accurate tracking of materials and processes.

Maintain the efficient and accurate operation of mass meters, and samplers throughout the production process.

Manage reagent inventory and ensuring adequate supply levels.

Conduct quality testing of all mill reagents and plant consumables to ensure they meet required standards.

Collaborate with the mill assay lab to prioritize samples and obtain timely results for decision-making.

Provide support for refinery tasks when necessary.

Analyze data and prepare technical documentation to support operational decisions.

Utilize operational excellence methodologies to uphold high-quality standards in all activities.

Foster a strong safety culture by engaging and empowering team members.

Your Knowledge and Skills :

Proficiency in computer applications and metallurgical software. Experience with Power BI and AutoCAD would be considered an asset.

Expert level organizational skills and ability to multi-task.

Excellent interpersonal / relationship skills able to work and communicate with individuals and groups at all levels of the organization, along with excellent written and oral communication skills.

High attention to detail and strong work ethic.

Good observational and analytical skills.

Must be able to handle a high level of confidentiality.

Must be capable of implementing changes to improve operational results.

Effectively prioritize duties and solve problems.

Ability to work in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment with the utmost professionalism, discretion, and confidentiality.

As a condition of employment, the successful candidate must possess a security screening document or equivalent document as defined by The Mines Regulations, 2018 .

The successful candidate will be required to maintain their security screening document or equivalent document throughout their employment at their own expense and will be required to provide confirmation of same and advise the employer of any changes to, revocation of or suspension of their security screening document during the term of their employment.

Your Education and Experience :

The successful candidate will have :

Candidate will be enrolled in an undergraduate Process / metallurgical / chemical / materials engineering program.

Minimum of two (2) years’ education experience.

Must have an understanding of optimizing mill throughput and recovery.

About Our Working Conditions :

This position has a schedule of 2 weeks on, 2 weeks off at our remote camp which you will be required to fly in fly out with pick up points in Saskatoon, Prince Albert and La Ronge.
