Are you interested in helping to shape the future of the mining industry through strategic project planning and successful project execution?

We are seeking a Project Analyst to join Redteam Projects, a growing consulting firm that combines the perspectives of engineering consulting and management consulting to help clients tackle complex project challenges.

About Redteam Projects :

Redteam is a consulting firm focused on helping clients successfully deliver large and complex capital projects in the heavy industrial sectors.

Our clients are predominantly in the mining industry and range from entrepreneurial single-asset developers to top-tier global operators.

We help clients develop study and project execution strategies, plan studies and projects for success, design and implement project control programs, and identify, analyze, and control risks throughout project development.

Some of our current engagements include :

  • Identifying and quantifying the risks associated with climate change for a mining company developing a greenfield uranium mine and processing facilities.
  • Assisting in planning a small-scale demonstration plant for a battery metal project to validate technical and economic assessments before advancing the design and construction of a full-scale commercial plant.
  • Providing project management oversight and assurance to a brown-field copper mine development project.

We are looking for team members who share our values and approach to work :

  • We show care for our clients and coworkers.
  • We believe that curiosity is vital to high-value work.
  • We achieve greatness through collaboration.
  • We deliver exceptional and impactful work.
  • We strive for sustainable high performance.

About the Opportunity :

This position will be primarily remote work, although occasional in-person meetings will be held in downtown Vancouver. Occasional travel to client offices within Canada or internationally will be required.

Our client list is global and spread across multiple time zones, so there will be periodic work outside normal business hours, which may include mornings, evenings, and weekends.

This role requires the candidate to work independently and autonomously; therefore, the successful candidate must be self-motivated, resourceful, and able to take on various novel tasks and responsibilities comfortably.

Your responsibilities will include :

  • Assist with the project and study execution planning processes and develop corresponding plans and procedures such as Study / Project Execution Plans and Study / Project Management Procedures.
  • Assist in organizing and facilitating Integrated Study / Project Planning Sessions and other project workshops, including coordinating with cross-functional teams, preparing materials, and contributing to strategic discussions.
  • Conduct Quantitative Risk Analyses (QRAs), including developing quantitative cost and schedule risk models to assess and predict risk scenarios, providing valuable insights for project decision-making.
  • Assist in coordinating and facilitating Study / Project Risk Assessments, including interviews to identify project risks and workshops to assess risks and develop risk response plans.
  • Implement and maintain project control mechanisms by identifying project objectives and priorities, tracking progress, and evaluating timelines and budgets.
  • Manage and update project controls reports, including cost, schedule, and progress / performance management.
  • Prepare reports, memos, presentations, and meeting notes, ensuring clarity and accuracy in documentation.
  • Provide support with additional tasks and projects as required - both client-facing and internal - demonstrating adaptability and a willingness to learn.

Temporary administrative responsibilities :

  • For approximately the first 3-9 months, this role will include administrative responsibilities such as timesheet management, accounting support and financial reporting to assist with parental leave coverage.
  • These temporary responsibilities will be working directly with the Redteam Founder and Principal Consultant and will offer the candidate insights into the accounting, human resources, and administrative functions of a small business.
  • During this time, it is estimated that 1-2 days a week will be dedicated to administrative work, and the remaining 3-4 days will be focused on project / client-facing work.
  • Upon completion of the parental leave coverage, this position is intended to transition into a dedicated client-facing consulting role.

About You :

The core skills and qualifications that will help you succeed at Redteam are :

  • A degree in civil, mechanical, integrated, environmental, geological / geotechnical or mining engineering is preferred, but candidates with a degree in other quantitative fields will also be considered.
  • A growing understanding of capital project development, various stages of project development, engineering / construction management, and project development in mining or other industrial sectors.
  • Experience in engineering and construction projects an asset, either as a consultant for an engineering firm, EPC / EPCM, or construction contractor.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including understanding and breaking down problems, then framing solutions and developing recommendations.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including summarizing complex ideas into clear, impactful reports and presentations.
  • Well-organized, detail-oriented and committed to providing exceptional service and results to our clients.
  • A positive attitude, strong work ethic, and a willingness to learn and grow.
  • Ability to work independently and autonomously; comfortable using your judgement to make decisions.

If you don't meet 100% of the qualifications outlined in this job posting, please tell us why you'd still be a great fit for Redteam in your cover letter.

  • Remote job with flexibility in working hours and location.
  • Competitive compensation package, with a base salary of $70,000 to $85,000, depending on your skills, academic background, and relevant experience.
