76 per hour, plus $1.25 shift premium as applicable. PURPOSE AND SCOPE : The Playground Inspector is responsible for the inspection, certification, installation, upgrading, alteration, and ongoing maintenance and repair of play structures, pump tracks, skate parks, and recreational courts.

Compliance with CSA Standards and Guidelines, as well as all relevant standards and best practices, is paramount in this role.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES : Inspect, certify, install, maintain, repair play structures and related areas. Conduct thorough inspections and maintenance, ensuring compliance with CSA Standards, Guidelines and City of Belleville minimum maintenance standards.

Perform scheduled upgrades and emergency maintenance on existing play structures and equipment to maintain CSA compliance.

Conduct prior-to-use inspections of new play structures, certifying safety and compliance with CSA regulations. Report compliance and warranty-related issues and concerns to the Manager, Operations Planning and Development (MOPD).

Maintain detailed repair and inspection logs for all work conducted on play structures and related areas. Supervise and inspect contractor work as necessary.

Ensure new park infrastructure meets safety and structural requirements before being accepted into the City of Belleville inventory.

Interpret blueprints and diagrams for installation and repair purposes. Prepare materials (by hand or machine) and assemble play structures using appropriate fasteners.

Conduct monthly site visits to assess the condition of play structures and related areas. Manage inventory of construction materials and fixtures, ordering parts as needed.

Monitor and address graffiti and vandalism promptly. Provide technical guidance and direction to others performing maintenance tasks.

Ensure work meets required standards for quality, accuracy, and productivity. Enforce adherence to policies, procedures, and guidelines.

Make on-site decisions regarding maintenance and repair activities. Complete and submit necessary documentation, including worksite reports, daily logs, time logs, CVOR logs, when required.

Perform maintenance on safety surfaces such as Engineered Wood Fiber redistribution and depth adjustments. As lead hand, has oversight of full-time, casual employees when conducting playground inspections, and repairs.

Note : Above duties are representative of a typical position and are not to be construed as all-inclusive. EDUCATION / SPECIALIZED TRAINING / SKILLS : Minimum Qualifications : 2-year College diploma / degree or a comparable combination of education and experience.

Current certification for playground inspector from CPSI or OPA A class DZ driver’s license in good standing with the MTO.

Preferred Qualifications : Knowledge and understanding of the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OSHA). Knowledge and understanding of the Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS).

Proficiency in computer use and operation (Reliable Reporting, MS Office Suites). Operate equipment, (tractors, bucket trucks, loaders, truck and trailer, winter control equipment).

WORK EXPERIENCE : Minimum Qualifications : Three (3) to five (5) years of experience in playground inspection. Preferred Qualifications : Municipal work experience would be considered and asset.

Experience with structure maintenance repairs including playgrounds, skate parks, pump tracks, basketball and pickleball courts.
