The incumbent could be expected to teach in the following programs within the Faculty of Nursing : Honours Bachelor of Science Nursing, Personal Support Worker and the Practical Nursing program.
The incumbent reports to the Dean, Faculty of Nursing. Salary range for this position is as per the Academic Collective Agreement - $73, to $, - and will be determined at the point of hire based on our internal classification form.
Specific Accountabilities :
The Professor will be responsible for providing academic leadership and for developing an effective environment through the design and revision of programs and courses, defining and evaluating learning outcomes, developing appropriate teaching and learning environments that support student success, and developing / selecting appropriate learning materials.
You will be expected to support student learning and progress, create assessments, rubrics, and evaluate student achievement.
Active participation in developing and modifying curriculum, participation in various committees, employing best practices from across the college system, and maintaining currency in your field through consultation with industry representatives are essential components of this position.
In this role, you will work collaboratively with your teaching team to ensure quality program delivery and student experiences.
You will champion the development of customized training and educational programs in collaboration with public and private sector partners.
Program promotion and student recruitment are essential areas of responsibility.
Qualifications :
- Successful completion of a PhD in Nursing is required
- 5 years recent clinical experience in acute care, long term care, and / or community care settings
- Current registration and good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO)
- Previous teaching experience at a post secondary academic level
- Experience utilizing simulation strategies in teaching is preferred
- Candidates must be able to work cooperatively with students, faculty, and personnel in clinical agencies
- Must be computer literate
- Experience with Microsoft Office suite of programs; Brightspace (D2L) or other Learning Management Systems; electronic clinical documentation system or other computer documentation programs, is preferable
- The successful candidate will teach theory, experiential learning lab and clinical courses in community and / or institutional settings.
Applicants must have the ability to be an effective role model in an educational setting and function effectively in a team environment.
Candidates must be self-motivated, and be an independent worker who functions well in a team environment with superior communication, team building, leadership, and computer skills.
Teaching and / or training experience with evidence of demonstrated application of adult learning principles and teaching / assessment methodologies, curriculum design, and development is preferred.
The successful candidate must demonstrate a passion for teaching and a commitment and capacity for teaching excellence, student engagement, student success, scholarly activity, and campus citizenship.
They must be able to relate effectively to a wide variety of learners. The successful candidate will be able to think broadly, celebrate diversity of thought, and respect the uniqueness of individuals.
