Description

As a Director Engineering, you will :

  • Lead multi-functional technology teams, dedicated to building and supporting the Bank’s technology systems
  • Your teams will redesign and build technology systems in support of our Bank business in Canada and support our advisors, mortgage brokers and customers
  • Employ re-usable and extensible frameworks, reference implementations and patterns and build new functionality to deliver on key product objectives
  • Deliver an exceptional user experience, through the delivery of products and services with strong and extendable architectural design
  • Guide and motivate the development of engineering staff within your team as well as focus on overall team engagement
  • Maintain and support these services, with accountability for production reliability and usage, and the delivery of new functionality

You bring and will continuously build upon the following skills :

  • Must have Banking environment experience
  • 8+ years leading Software Engineer teams
  • A deep, hands-on, background in modern software development and practices
  • An entrepreneurial spirit and comfort working within a rapidly changing startup environment; you love the challenge of working with a team and to change the engineering culture of an enterprise
  • Expertise with agile and DevOps principles, test-driven development, continuous integration, and other approaches to accelerate the delivery of new features
  • Developing engineers and a passion for growing staff within the organization
  • Experimenting with emerging technologies and understanding how they will impact what comes next
  • A capacity for constant learning from both success and failure, remaining open to change and continuous improvement
  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities that enable you to manage through creative abrasion
  • Strong verbal and written communication with the ability to effectively articulate and communicate technical vision, possibilities, and outcomes across all levels in the organization
  • Confidence, maturity and credibility to deliver and present to AVP+ audiences
  • Strong relationship-building skills to build effective working relationships with business unit leaders.
  • Strong understanding of the fundamentals of banking and financial services

Salary & Benefits

The annual base salary for this role is listed below.

Primary Location

CAN, Ontario, Waterloo, 500 King Street North

Salary range is expected to be between

$107,730.00 CAD - $200,070.00 CAD

The actual salary will vary depending on local market conditions, geography and relevant job-related factors such as knowledge, skills, qualifications, experience, and education / training.

Employees also have the opportunity to participate in incentive programs and earn incentive compensation tied to business and individual performance.
