The Construction, Project Manager Intern will be supporting our Project Managers on one or more tasks related to the management of new developments and renovation of existing sites for all Recipe’s branded restaurant concepts, with the objective of achieving annual store plans while delivering high quality turnovers within the annual capital budget.
What you will do in this role :
Support and assist the Project Manager’s responsibilities below :
- Plan, tender, budget, monitor and review new unit construction and existing unit renovations
- Coordinate ground up construction, renovations, and conversion projects for Recipe’s branded restaurant concepts
- Manage general contractors, consultants, vendors, and suppliers
- Ensure projects are delivered on time and on budget, and that proper invoice and cost tracking is maintained throughout the project lifecycle
- Ensure engineering, architectural, and design activities are completed accurately and in a timely manner
- Develop a construction schedule and accurate budget for each construction project
- Manage building permits and site approvals process, coordinating with Landlord in delivery of base building and / or building pad
- Manage the tendering process, analysis and recommendation
- Coordinate equipment ordering, delivery and construction schedules
- Establish and monitor budgets and adherence of variance controls
- Manage site communications and issue resolution to key internal and external stakeholders
- Oversee construction and conduct periodic site inspections to ensure quality, timing, and adherence to standards
- Review and confirm building standards by managing turnover to operations and ensuring deficiencies are properly completed within warranty periods
- Manage various municipal authorities to obtain required licensing, permits, etc.
- Manage warranty reviews and closure of deficiencies list
What we are looking for from you :
Currently enrolled in 3rd or 4th year of a Architecture / Construction or Engineering program at accredited Canadian College or University
Advanced organization skills with the ability to prioritize and multitask
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Strong attention to detail, analytical, and problem solving skills
Proficiency in Google Suite
Understanding of Smartsheet software is an asset
This position will start in January 2025 until April 2025 (with possibility of extending to August 2025)
