Business Development Manager (BDM)

(Information Technology Managed Services Provider New Business Acquisition Focus)

The Business Development Manager (BDM) plays a critical role in driving the growth and success of our Information Technology Managed Services Provider (MSP) business. This position is focused exclusively on identifying, engaging, and qualifying new prospects to build a robust pipeline of potential clients. The BDMs primary accountability is to generate meetings with decision-makers at organizations that do not currently engage our services, ultimately leading to new business and the acquisition of brand-new logos. The role requires a proactive approach to networking, prospecting, and relationship-building within the Alberta market.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough research to identify and profile target organizations and key decision-makers in relevant industries.
  • Utilize a variety of tools (CRM, LinkedIn, industry databases, events) to build and update a high-quality prospect list.
  • Consistently meet or exceed monthly targets for net new prospect meetings and qualified leads.
  • Deliver high-quality, well-researched leads to the sales team for further development and closing.
  • Maintain an up-to-date and accurate record of all prospect interactions and outcomes.
  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of MSP offerings and industry trends to engage prospects effectively.
  • Actively contribute to the continuous improvement of outbound sales processes and strategies.
  • Uphold company values and standards in all external communications and networking activities.

Accountabilities

1. Outbound Outreach & Engagement

  • Initiate contact with prospects via phone calls, emails, social media, and other digital channels.
  • Craft personalized outreach messages that clearly articulate Accurates value proposition and address prospect pain points.
  • Consistently follow up to nurture interest and book introductory meetings.
  • Meeting Generation
  • Secure qualified meetings between prospective clients and senior sales or technical staff.
  • Maintain a target quota for weekly and monthly meetings booked with net new organizations.
  • Prepare prospects for meetings by sharing relevant information and setting clear expectations.
  • 2. Networking & Brand Building

  • Attend industry events, conferences, and networking functions to identify new business opportunities.
  • Represent the company professionally and confidently, building awareness and credibility for our MSP brand.
  • Leverage online communities and forums to engage potential clients and expand network reach.
  • 3. Pipeline Management & Reporting

  • Accurately track all prospecting activity, meetings scheduled, and outcomes in the CRM system.
  • Provide regular reports and updates on pipeline status, conversion rates, and key metrics to sales leadership.
  • Collaborate with marketing and sales teams to refine target messaging and improve campaign effectiveness.
  • 4. Full Cycle Client Management

  • BDM will be the main point of contact for the client during the onboarding process as well as throughout the Customer Journey process.
  • BMD will provide account management for the full year, where they will help coordinate any critical risk or strategic project quotes
  • Annual Assessment and QBR management with the client for the initial year
  • Goal is to be the main point of contact for ongoing management through the first year of being with Accurate Networks. Following a 1 year term, the client will be transitioned to an Account Manager.
  • Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

  • Number of net new prospect meetings booked per month
  • Number of qualified leads generated
  • Conversion rate from initial meeting to sales opportunity
  • Engagement activity (calls, emails, networking events attended)
  • Quality and accuracy of CRM data
  • Existing client QBR management and reporting
  • Qualifications

  • 5-7 years of outbound sales, lead generation, or business development experience (preferably in IT or MSP sector).
  • Demonstrated success in prospecting and securing meetings with new organizations.
  • Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency with CRM tools (e.g., Salesforce, HubSpot), LinkedIn Sales Navigator, and other digital prospecting platforms.
  • Self-motivated, goal-oriented, and comfortable working independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to quickly learn and articulate complex technology solutions.
  • Experience attending and networking at industry events is an asset.
  • Working Conditions

    This is a full-time role based in Alberta, either Edmonton or Calgary, with flexibility for hybrid or remote work arrangements. Occasional travel is required for events or client meetings. The BDM will report directly to the Director of Client Services and collaborate closely with the sales and marketing teams.
