Job Description

Aramark is recruiting a full- time Patient Food Service Supervisor to oversee the Patient Food Service Department at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre on Bayview Avenue in North York, ON.

The Patient Food Service Supervisor plans, administers, directs, and manages food production, food assembly, patient meal trays and ware washing while complying with the standards established by Aramark, regulatory agencies, and client.

The Patient Food Service Supervisor establishes and maintains effective working relationships with other departments to provide a unified food service experience for patients.

Job Responsibilities

  • Delivers operational performance by executing food services for approximately 900 patients in a high-volume fast paced environment
  • Supervises 25-30 hourly staff, trains and manages the performance of the cooks and dietary aides regarding food production, presentation, and meal trays in accordance with service schedules
  • Ensures compliance to food safety, sanitation, and overall workplace safety standards
  • Responsible for problem solving and troubleshooting equipment and systems utilized for food production
  • Responsible to monitor call-ins for absent staff and replace as required, update schedules accordingly
  • Perform and participate in periodic Quality Assurance audits
  • Ability to engage, motivate and lead the team, resolve conflicts and work collaboratively to achieve departmental goals
  • Experience working within and supervising unionized staff is an asset
  • Written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate requirements, priorities, and solutions
  • Strong organizational skills and able to manage competing priorities in a busy, fast-paced environment

Qualifications

  • Must possess a Food and Nutrition Diploma to be considered for this position
  • Canadian Society of Nutrition Management (CSNM) membership is a requirement and can be obtained with the prerequisite Food and Nutrition Diploma
  • Experience working in a high-volume, fast paced hospitality environment
  • 3-4 year’s food service experience in healthcare setting is preferred
  • Previous supervisory and therapeutic nutrition knowledge is required
  • Effective communication and organization skills to direct staff and manage a fast-paced operation
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office, computer literacy required
  • Must be available to work Monday Friday shifts that vary from 6AM 11 : 30AM start times and every third weekend. Schedules are prepared two months in advance
