This position is effective September 3, 2024 and will end on June 30, 2025, with opportunity to apply internally for postings for the 25 / 26 school year.

Also, as this position is part-time, the successful candidate may wish to also accept at Temporary 0.60 FTE French Immersion Priority TTOC position for a full-time equivalent to June 30, 2025.

NATURE OF ASSIGNMENT

The District French Immersion and Core French Grades 4-12 Curriculum Facilitator is responsible for providing district level and direct classroom support to educators in the broad areas of curriculum, instruction, and assessment practices.

This individual will support competency development in the teaching of the French language, personalized learning, resource selection, social emotional learning, curriculum planning, assessment and communicating student learning.

This individual will work as part of a team to design and facilitate professional learning opportunities for staff. Other responsibilities will include : promoting, reviewing and enhancing French Immersion (Early and Late) and Core French district programs and resources, coordinating French socio-cultural activities, performances and events, serving as a lead for the French Advisory Committee and tasks associated with this role, facilitating French language assessments, developing classroom resources for French Immersion / Core French teachers, and working in collaboration with community partners (ie.

Canadian parents for French) to promote French second language opportunities. The role will involve site-based work, co-planning and co-teaching in Early French Immersion schools and support the Secondary French Immersion program as needed.

SCOPE OF POSITION

  • Comprehensive knowledge of the BC curriculum (specifically in the areas of Core French and French Immersion);
  • Thorough experience with curriculum design and planning, Universal Design for Learning, differentiating instruction, assessment, evaluation;
  • Thorough knowledge of the ministry and district's reporting policy and guidelines;
  • Ability to collaboratively plan and co-teach with French teachers using a variety of research-based teaching strategies including inquiry, project-based learning using technologies to enhance personalized learning;
  • Ability to guide teachers to incorporate the First Peoples Principles and Core Competencies into all aspects of the curriculum;
  • Demonstrated experience in designing and facilitating professional learning opportunities for teachings including district professional development or school-based initiatives determined by the needs of teachers and administrators;
  • Demonstrated experience in implementing the Universal Design for Learning model to enhance practices in differentiated instruction, assessment, and social emotional learning strategies;
  • Demonstrated ability to design and implement a variety of assessment practices to measure and monitor student progress effectively;
  • Ability to organize and monitor a spending plan for the OLEP budget, including collaboration with schools on purchase requests, sourcing resources, tracking the budget and completing federal budget reporting requirements;
  • Ability to support initiatives through the French Advisory Committee;
  • Ability to assist French Immersion schools and the district with the development of goals and action plans designed to enhance French Immersion student achievement and retention;

Ability to work effectively and collaboratively on a team of District Curriculum Facilitators.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Valid BC Teachers Certificate

Member of the Ministry of Education Teacher Regulation Branch

Qualified / experienced in French Immersion

Fully bilingual, with native-like fluency in French and English Language (reading, writing, speaking, listening)

Undergraduate degree in French Immersion and methodology coursework in teaching French as a second language

Extensive and successful teaching experience in a variety of classroom settings

Demonstrated experience in curriculum, instruction, assessment and reporting

Superior listening, oral, and written communication skills

Superior work ethic and social emotional competencies, excellent reflective judgement and commitment to building effective learning communities

Confidence and proficiency in using instructional organizers, concepts and strategies that actively engage all students in learning

Demonstrated leadership ability and experience

Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with students, parents and staff

Knowledge of effective literacy and numeracy practices and development

Knowledge and experience in personalizing learning for all students

Ability and willingness to work in a technologically rich learning environment

Successful completion of a Criminal Record Search as carried out through the Ministry of Education Teacher Regulation Branch

Commitment to creating a safe and caring learning environment

Compensation :

Salary as per Teachers' Collective Agreement. Current salary range is $59,724. to $110,833. annually plus comprehensive benefits package.
