JOB OVERVIEW
Ontario Power Generation (OPG) is looking for a dynamic, strategic and results-driven leaders to join our Maintenance team in the role of Operations Support Manager located in Pickering or Bowmanville, Ontario .
The Operations Support Manager will assist in monitoring and enabling sustained performance of the Operations Department at the highest level.
This will be accomplished by ensuring that programs in Staffing, Training, Conduct of Operations, Procedures and Plant Status Control are in place and being managed effectively.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
Implement program requirements and controls to be applied across the station regarding Conduct of Operations and Plant Status Control.
Ensure adherence to and implementation of changes in Operations governance.
- Develop station-level operating methods, procedures and documentation for conduct of operations, required for the safe and efficient generation of electricity consistent with regulatory requirements and standards established by OPG.
- Assess and report on the performance of the operations function and identify programs to improve efficiency and effectiveness (e.
g. human performance improvement initiatives).
- Participate in and / or coordinate benchmarking visits and implementation of lessons learned.
- Developing long-range capability development programs for Operations Production staff.
- Monitoring and participating in the initial and continuing training of staff to ensure performance standards and expectations are being achieved.
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure successful cross-functional integration.
- Monitor and analyze performance metrics to identify areas for improvement.
EDUCATION
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Applied Science OR Technical College Degree with relevant experience
QUALIFICATIONS
- 5-8 years of people management experience with facilitative leadership skills.
- Experience within a heavily regulated / procedural Industrial / Utility organization (Nuclear experience is preferred).
- Excellent problem solving abilities and the ability to provide guidance.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
- Strong leadership and management skills with a proven track record of successfully managing a team.
- Previous supervisory experience with managing skilled trades within an unionized environment will be an asset.
- Prior experience and knowledge of working on Nuclear reactor systems / buildings is highly desirable.
- Exhibits strong leadership qualities and possesses well-developed analytical and communication skills (verbal and written).
- Ability to prioritize competing demands and work under pressure to meet deadlines
- Demonstrated ability to provide direction, including providing advice and influencing personnel to others to achieve results.
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize work activities to satisfy changing requirements;
- Experience in driving strategic initiatives and implementing change.
