Sustainability Project Manager

You as a Sustainability Project Manager’ will :
- Work collaboratively with project teams across the country to help achieve sustainability goals. Your measure of success is tied to the success of those around you.
- Support the project team in reviewing contract documents, identifying project sustainability-related risks, identifying specific requirements, interpreting the corresponding scope, working with teams to mitigate risks and escalate issues as required.
- Support the project team directly or through managing external consultants to ensure delivery of sustainability requirements, which may include certification under various sustainability rating systems, climate risk and resiliency, operational energy and carbon, embodied carbon, and construction related site emissions.
- Provide project start-up orientation to project teams, rolling out management systems and provide ongoing technical review, support, and training for sustainable certification programs.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of the corporate sustainability strategy, vision, and goals, and align project sustainability outcomes with the overall strategy.
- Define the project sustainability scope, goals and deliverables, identify and manage project related risks, and lead the scope of work on multiple projects at different stages of the project life cycle.
- Communicate effectively with multiple internal and external stakeholders to establish clear expectations on sustainability requirements, collaborate on objectives, resolve issues, and report on progress and performance.
- Demonstrate strong critical thinking, problem solving and conflict resolution skills, and are adaptable to a rapidly growing and changing industry.
- Lead and motivate the project teams, provide feedback and coaching, and foster a collaborative and innovative work environment within the team and the company.
- Represent EllisDon at industry events, stay updated on the latest trends, innovations, and best practices in sustainability, and share knowledge and insights with the project and corporate teams.
Is this the right role for you?
- You have a minimum of 5-8 years’ experience in implementing sustainability into the built environment during various phases of design, construction, and building operation.
- Having completed post-secondary education in Engineering, Architecture, or a design / construction related discipline, as well as having five years of construction experience or equivalent technical training and experience in a Project Manager role in Institutional or Commercial construction would be a great advantage.
- You are a skilled project manager who can lead and coordinate sustainability initiatives across multiple projects and disciplines, while adapting to industry changes and resolving conflicts.
- You have a passion for sustainability within the built environment, with in-depth understanding of how climate issues relate to buildings and construction, as well as a working understanding of other sustainability metrics and frameworks (e.
g. : Toronto Green Standard, LEED, WELL, Envision, Zero Carbon Building Certification,).
You have the ability to travel to other cities for occasional site visitation throughout Canada based on project portfolio.
Work requires very light physical exertion, limited visual and / or auditory concentration, manual dexterity and / or strain.
