The St. Catharines Downtown Association (SCDA) is a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting and representing approximately 500 members within the designated Business Improvement Area (BIA). Its members include commercial property owners, retailers, restaurants, and professional offices. SCDA focuses on promoting the vibrancy and economic growth of downtown St. Catharines. It serves as a key resource for businesses, fostering collaboration and community engagement within the area.
Role Description
- This is a full-time on-site role for an Event Coordinator located in St. Catharines, ON. The SCDA delivers public-facing events and business-focused initiatives that attract people into the downtown core and encourage discovery of local businesses.
- Several events are entering their fifth year, alongside new and evolving activations. Events range from business-focused promotions to larger-scale activities that may involve road closures, permits, and coordination with multiple stakeholders. SCDA also hosts business networking events, member information sessions, and the BIA Conference. This role works with both the general public and downtown businesses.
Event Planning & Execution
Coordinate downtown events from concept to completionDevelop timelines, site plans, run-of-show documents, and post-event evaluationsCoordinate vendors, performers, volunteers, and suppliersEnsure events support and align with downtown businessesPermits, Safety & OperationsLead permit applications and approvalsWork with Fire, By-law, and other authorities to ensure complianceDevelop site layouts, safety plans, and operational requirementsMarketing Support
Support event marketing and promotional timelinesAssist with content creation (email, social media, listings, signage)Ensure events are well-promoted and aligned with SCDA marketing effortsGrants, Sponsorships & RevenueResearch, write, and manage event-related grant applicationsSupport sponsorship outreach and partner relationshipsTrack sponsorship deliverables and reporting requirementsContribute to revenue growth tied to eventsSupport and help lead event committeesWork collaboratively with businesses, community groups, and cultural partnersAssist with volunteer coordination and community outreachOther Duties
Event-day coordination and troubleshootingOther related duties as assignedQualifications & Skills
