Field of Activities

Under the authority of the Mohawk Council of Kanesatake and in collaboration with the Kanehsatà : ke Education Center. Under the direct supervision of the Special Education Coordinator, the Speech-Language Pathologist will work in providing support to students experiencing or likely to experience hearing, language, speech or voice problems, the position encompasses responsibility for determining and implementing a speech therapy or audiology treatment and intervention plan with a focus on prevention, screening, and evaluation.

Prerequisites

1. Master’s Degree in Speech-Language Pathology from accredited University.

2. Be a member in good standing with the OOAQ (L’Ordre des Orthophonistes et audiologistes du Québec).

3. Capable of keeping up with the demands of working with young children and adolescents.

4. Ability to work independently and in a team setting.

5. Demonstrate effective organizational and time management skills.

6. To be able to collaborate with others to effectively serve all clients.

7. Be able to work in English; French and Mohawk are an asset.

8. Ability to maintain confidentiality.

9. Excellent interpersonal communication skills and competence in conflict resolution.

10. Excellent team building and organization skills instead.

11. Knowledge of Kanien’keha : ka people, culture and history would be beneficial.

12. Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English. Kanien’keha and French are considered an asset.

13. Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle.

14. Valid First Aid and CPR Certification or willingness to take courses.

Salary : According to the Quebec Treasury Board Salary Scales.

Start Date : August 2024

Probation Period :

The successful candidates will be subject to a six (6) month probation period. Following the probation period, a performance evaluation will be conducted and upon successful completion, a confirmation of employment will be provided.
