The Assistant Lodge Manager is a key operational support to the project and acts as the main on-site contact. The role also serves as a day-to-day liaison for the client and service provider, helping ensure contractual scope, site expectations, and operational priorities are consistently met.

This position requires fly-in/fly-out travel from Edmonton, Alberta, the Kitikmeot Region in Nunavut or Yellowknife, Northwest Territories, to the project site in Nunavut, with potential for weather-related delays or logistical challenges. This is a safety-sensitive position requiring drug and alcohol testing as a condition of employment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support in overseeing daily site operations across culinary, housekeeping, front desk, maintenance coordination, travel administration, and guest services.
  • Serve as a key point of contact for the client and service provider on day-to-day operational matters.

  • Help ensure services are delivered in line with contractual scope, company standards, and client expectations.

  • Support the timely resolution of guest concerns, service issues, and operational escalations.

  • Culinary: support meal service execution, dining flow, bagged meals, and coordination with kitchen leadership.

  • Housekeeping: support room inspections, cleaning standards, and readiness of guest rooms and common areas.

  • Front Desk / Accommodations: support check-in/check-out, room assignments, guest communications, and issue tracking.

  • Maintenance Coordination: log, communicate, and follow up on maintenance and safety-related work orders.

  • ERP / Administration: maintain records, reports, purchase requests, inventory updates, and site documentation. Act as the fire warden in case of an emergency.

  • Travel & Reservations: coordinate travel enquiries, flights, room reservations, arrivals/departures, and rooming updates.

  • Support onboarding, training, scheduling, and performance follow-up across departments.

  • Ensure associates are in their assigned areas and completing required tasks.

  • Support payroll, timesheets, labour tracking, and expense control as assigned.

  • Support compliance with company, clients, and legislative health and safety requirements.

  • Participate in inspections, incident reporting, corrective actions, and quality processes.

  • Help maintain standards for service quality, sanitation, and safe work practices.

  • Coordinate flight manifests, shuttle schedules, and crew-change day flows with Workforce/Travel.

Qualifications

  • College diploma in hospitality/operations (or equivalent experience).
  • Minimum 3 - 5 years of progressive management experience in hospitality, remote camp operations, or similar fields.

  • Post-secondary education in business, hospitality, or a related discipline preferred.

  • WHMIS and other relevant safety certifications (or willingness to obtain).

  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel as required.

  • Proven success leading 300+ person teams and operating within defined budgets and KPIs.

  • Exceptional attention to detail; clear written and verbal communication; customer‑service mindset.

  • Ability to manage competing priorities calmly in a fast-paced, remote environment.
