Job Description

As a Sr. Product Owner, you will have shared responsibility for roadmap creation and backlog management within your area of responsibility of MSI’s Avigilon Video Management product suite.

You will discover, validate and develop ideas based on industry experience, customer contact and stakeholder insights. You must possess a blend of business and technical acumen and enjoy spending time understanding our customers' needs and the competitive landscape.

As a member of the Product Owner team, you will work with a group of agile-teams to continuously create product features that deliver customer value.

Our agile teams vary between 4-8 members in size and are fully empowered to advance the product to support key customer outcomes.

Responsibilities :

  • Define product goals and co-create roadmaps to support area of responsibility
  • Continuously curate and refine the backlog working with development teams and stakeholders
  • Work closely with the Product Owner team on various aspects of the product
  • Effectively manage expectations of a broad group of stakeholders (i.e. senior management, product management, customers, etc)
  • Collaborate with agile teams to build effective and iterative delivery plans for our software releases
  • Drive delivery of incremental value quickly and iterate based on feedback from customers
  • Become an expert in our product and regularly validate that the team delivers successful outcomes for our customers and business
  • Understand the needs of our customers through direct interaction
  • Understand and communicate the why with user personas, user journeys, user story maps, and other artifacts
  • Stay abreast of industry trends and reflecting that in the backlog
  • Help teams continuously improve their way of working and responding to change
  • Facilitate demos showing the product value to stakeholders

Requirements :

  • BS degree in Computer Science or related field or 4 years of equivalent work
  • 10+ years of technical experience in engineering or software development
  • Passion for working with cross functional teams to discover solutions to customer problems
  • Ability to communicate requirements from a user and technical perspective
  • Ability to guide teams to start and finish work items with efficient WIP limits
  • High degree of organization, attention to detail, initiative and personal accountability
  • Ability to prioritize and make rapid decisions in a fast paced environment
  • Interpersonal skills with an ability to motivate the team to problem solve creatively
  • Self-driven and acts with an extreme sense of urgency and passionate about delivering
  • Demonstrated ability to own the product
  • Ability to travel up to 20% of the time

Preference will be given to candidates with the following skills and experience :

  • 5+ years of experience as a Product Owner or Business Analyst in an agile environment
  • Experience with scaling agile frameworks or agile certifications
  • Exposure to Video Management Systems
  • Informed about industry standards and cyber security best practices
  • Attuned to the competitive market landscape
  • Champion the agile mindset and help build agility within the team and wider organization
  • Respected as a change agent

This position is based in Vancouver, BC and the candidate must reside in the Greater Vancouver area as you will be required to go into the office on a hybrid work schedule.

The base salary range for this position in British Columbia is 100,000 - 120,000 CAD depending on experience.
