Let’s Talk About The Role

We’re looking for a curious, detail-driven Technical Writer to support our Developer Experience Platform team—the driving force behind building platform products that provide world- class developer experience that is a joy to use.

This role blends the essentials of technical writing with the creativity of UX writing to support intuitive, user-centered platform experiences. You’ll help shape seamless platform product onboarding experiences for an org- wide audience, all while working within our defined style and voice.

This role calls for a natural communicator with a sharp eye for detail and a passion for making complex ideas easy to understand. Whether translating technical jargon into everyday language or collaborating with designers and platform engineers in a fast-paced environment, you bring clarity and empathy to every interaction.

You’re a lifelong learner — someone who eagerly explores new tools, dives into unfamiliar products, and constantly looks for ways to improve how we work and what we deliver. You’ve embraced AI to streamline workflows and elevate content quality, and you can tell stories about how you’ve made it work for you.

Location: This is a hybrid role that requires regular in‑office presence; candidates must be within driving distance of our Halifax office.

Let’s Talk About Responsibilities

  • Write and edit technical materials (such as user guides, onboarding guides, product specifications) based on user stories, specifications, information from platform engineers / product managers, and use of the platform products.
  • Collaborate with UX designers to shape interface content that’s easy to understand, aligned with the correct tone of voice, and designed to support user goals and drive engagement.
  • Revise content to incorporate updates and feedback from key stakeholders.
  • Follow established writing, branding, and quality standards.
  • Use AI tools to streamline content creation workflows and improve content quality and delivery speed.
  • Select, edit, and create images.
  • Create training, onboarding videos.
  • Collaborate with internal platform teams to identify interdependencies and priorities.
  • Bring in documentation standards across platform pillars and teams.
  • Let’s Talk About Qualifications And Experience

Required:

  • 5 or more years of experience in technical communication, preferably in a software environment
  • 2 or more years of experience with writing user interface text
  • Excellent writing and editing skills. Pride in workmanship. Dedication to accuracy and quality
  • Excellent interpersonal skills. Ability to cooperate with a wide variety of teammates, including product managers, software engineers and staff in other roles.
  • Familiarity with graphic editing tools like Adobe Photoshop Or tools like Adobe Creative Suite, Adobe InDesign, Microsoft Office products, Markdown. Video creation tools such as Microsoft Clipchamp or others.
  • Proven ability to work independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
  • Ability to learn quickly and understand complex software and platform design
  • Flexible attitude. Ability to adapt to shifting priorities, demands, and timelines
  • Time management skills. Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong technical knowledge: you understand how software solutions are built, deployed, and maintained
  • Ability to attend in-office activities
  • Experience using AI tools to improve content workflows and quality
  • Ability to operate in Agile working environment and keep pace with product roadmap, timelines, and releases
  • Help the team create and maintain standards for both internal and external documentation and communication.
  • Interest in taking on internal project management activities and supporting the team beyond the Technical Writer scope.

Preferred:

  • Familiarity with CMS platforms, Markdown, HTML, and XML
  • Familiarity with React components
  • Skilled in modular, reusable content and metadata/taxonomy systems
  • Knowledge of content governance, audits, and regulatory compliance
  • Experience supporting user education and help flows
  • Ability to create and optimize visuals for clarity and accessibility
  • Familiarity with visual design principles and tools (e.g., Figma, Illustrator, Photoshop)
  • Ability to share metrics or success stories that demonstrate content impact

Individual pay decisions are based on a variety of factors, such as the candidate’s geographic work location, relevant qualifications, work experience, and skills.
