ABOUT THIS CAREER OPPORTUNITY
Reporting to the Facility Manager on a daily basis for all related activity, the Facility Supervisor will be responsible for overseeing and delivering a full facility management solutions.
Essentially this role will include the oversight of building activities and associated staff including vendors and sub-contractors, safety compliance, project work, client relationships and any other activities deemed necessary for the role on an ad-hoc or long-term basis. In addition, you will ensure efficient planning, management, and development of effective controls and procedures.
The position also requires compliance with Black and McDonald codes of conduct, Health, Safety and Environmental policies and safe work practices along with any client specific protocol.
Work shall include but not necessarily be bound by the following:
Maintain a safe work environment and ensure compliance with all Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) policies, inspections, and corrective actions
Communicate HSE requirements and issues effectively through Toolbox Talks and regular engagement with staff, subcontractors, and clients
Keep all work areas clean, safe, and well maintained
Schedule and coordinate on-site maintenance staff, vendors, and subcontractors to ensure efficient service delivery and quality completion of work
Administer and monitor asset management and preventive maintenance activities within the CMMS, ensuring accuracy and on-time completion
Ensure SOPs, PM documentation, and equipment records are current, accurate, and properly stored
Review and approve staff timesheets and ensure accurate completion of all required documentation and systems
Monitor budgets and costs to meet financial targets without compromising service quality
Review team performance, ensuring compliance with company and client policies; support counselling or disciplinary actions in consultation with management and HR
Respond promptly to demand and emergency situations using building automation or manual systems
Maintain a detailed daily Supervisor Logbook
Liaise regularly with clients and tenants to ensure satisfaction, escalating issues to Operations Management as required
Obtain and evaluate quotations in line with procurement procedures and recommend best-value options for approval
Configure plant and systems for maintenance activities and perform start-up/shutdown of major building equipment (e.g., chillers, pumps, cooling towers)

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
A university degree in engineering, a CET, college diploma in construction technology, or related education is considered an asset
A trade license may be an asset
Experience in the Facility Management industry may substitute for post-secondary education requirements
WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Minimum 3 - 5 years of Facilities Management and/or operations management experience in the Industrial, Commercial and Institutional sectors.
SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS
Able to travel within the Greater Toronto Area (GTA)
Security clearance requirements: must be able to get reliability and secret clearance
Must have a clear driving record/abstract
The expected salary range for this role is between $70,000 - $90,000 per year. The starting salary will be determined based on several factors such as the successful candidate's qualifications, including but not limited to education and experience. Base pay is one component of Black & McDonald's total rewards package. Total rewards vary by position and may include additional offerings such as group insurance benefits, pension plan, annual discretionary bonus, career development programs, and other HR programs.
