Responsibilities
- Develop and deliver individualized learning plans for students with a broad range of disabilities based on each student’s unique needs and learning style (study strategies, organizational strategies, time management, coping skills, and other areas of need).
- Advocate for institutional accessibility improvements and resource allocation by collaborating across departments.
- Partner with the instructional design team on initiatives related to Universal Design for Learning (UDL) and inclusive education strategies.
- Liaise between Accessibility & Student Support Services, SAS, SALT, faculty, and external accessibility organizations to ensure student supports are effectively implemented.
- Provide faculty training and support to foster an inclusive learning environment and facilitate accommodation implementation.
- Collaborate with departments to enhance digital and physical accessibility on campus.
- Foster partnerships with community organizations to improve accessibility resources.
- Ensure students receive appropriate referrals and access to assistive technologies and learning resources.
- Develop initiatives to improve student services and success among those requiring accessibility services.
- Serve as a resource to the College on learning strategies for students with learning differences.
- Develop and facilitate group workshops related to student accessibility.
- Collaborate with Learning Assistants, Instructors, and other staff to provide training and support for students with specific learning differences.
- Assist with additional tasks and special projects as assigned to support the department’s operations.
Qualifications
Degree or diploma in Education, Accessibility Studies, Psychology, or a related discipline.Additional certification in Special Education preferred or a background in special education.Minimum 2‑5 years of experience in post‑secondary accessibility services, student support, or academic leadership roles.Proven ability to develop and lead accessibility initiatives at an institutional level.Proven ability to provide solution‑focused interventions.Knowledge of assistive technologies, digital accessibility standards, and UDL.Expertise in accessibility laws, funding programs, and accommodation best practices.Benefits
