Our challenge

We are seeking a talented React UI Developer to join our digital banking team. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing and implementing user interfaces for our banking applications, ensuring a seamless, responsive, and secure user experience. The ideal candidate should have strong front-end development skills, experience working within banking or financial environments, and a keen eye for detail.

Additional Information*

The base salary for this position will vary based on geography and other factors. In accordance with law, the base salary for this role if filled within Halifax, NS is CAD $70k – CAD $80k/year & benefits (see below).

The Role

Responsibilities:

• Develop, enhance, and maintain responsive user interfaces using React.js and related frontend technologies.
• Collaborate with UX/UI designers to translate design prototypes into functional web applications.
• Integrate frontend components with backend APIs, ensuring data security and performance.
• Implement best practices for UI/UX standards, accessibility, and cross-browser compatibility.
• Optimize applications for maximum speed and scalability.
• Participate in code reviews, testing, and debugging to ensure high quality deliverables.
• Work closely with backend teams to integrate services securely and efficiently.
• Stay updated on emerging frontend technologies and propose innovative solutions.
• Adhere to banking security standards and compliance requirements in all UI developments.
• Document code and technical specifications for transparency and future maintenance.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Web Development, or a related field.
• 4+ years of front-end development experience, specifically with React.js.
• Strong proficiency in JavaScript, HTML5, CSS3, and related technologies.
• Experience with state management libraries like Redux or Context API.
• Familiarity with RESTful APIs, JSON, and data integration.
• Knowledge of secure coding practices and data protection in banking applications.
• Experience with version control systems like Git.
• Understanding of responsive design principles and mobile-first development.
• Knowledge of UI/UX best practices and accessibility standards.

Preferred, but not required:

• Experience developing banking or financial services applications.
• Familiarity with TypeScript.
• Experience with frontend testing frameworks (Jest, Enzyme).
• Knowledge of cloud-based deployment (Azure, AWS).
• Understanding of banking compliance standards (e.g., PSD2, GDPR).
