Currently, our Outages, Radiation Protection Fleet Services Division has an opportunity for a Section Manager, Safety Support.
The Section Manager, Safety Support position is a critical function and a key role within the organization, responsible for providing leadership and management direction to respective employees.
This will be accomplished by clearly defining and continuously reinforcing staff roles and responsibilities and ensuring employees remain focused on core activities and competencies.
This is a permanent, full-time position which offers a competitive benefits, compensation and pension package and is located on site in Tiverton, Ontario.
What will you be responsible for?
Support the Department Manager in managing and supervising the work of Radiological Protection (RP)
Liaison between various departments for the safe execution of radiological work
Provide work direction and ensure adherence to radiological controls, giving direction and guidance to department staff, operating staff, construction staff and visitors
Implement and manage radiological protection programs
Work with management to address radiation protection and industrial safety issues
Manage the work-planning interface between radiological and work management
Oversee the staffing and resource management of full time and supplemental personnel reporting to Outages, Radiation Protection Fleet Services
Participate or lead investigations into radiation protection concerns and make recommendations as to their resolution
Provide support to the Emergency Response Organization as required
Perform other duties as required
Skills and Knowledge
Demonstrated capabilities in the following areas :
Requires knowledge of physics, basic mechanics, mathematics, electricity, instrumentation, and engineering to technically understand the operation of a nuclear power plant
Ability to establish excellent working relationships with both internal and external contacts
Excellent level of written, verbal and presentation skills
Ability to effectively communicate to senior management and external stakeholders
Education and Experience
This knowledge is considered to be normally acquired through the successful completion of a four-year University degree in Engineering, Science, Health Physics or equivalent
