Job Description

Fugro OARS®provides centralized command centers throughout the world with direct access to offshore survey projects. The system allows for optimization of survey crew size, client engagement and access to Fugro’s subject matter experts around the world.

The Offshore Electronics Technologist , you are an integral part of the Offshore Survey Team, focused on mobilisation and operation of positioning and survey equipment, including acquisition and quality control of data onboard offshore vessels.

The role of an Electronics Technologist is varied and offers the opportunity to not only set up, test and operate a variety of innovative, market-leading survey and positioning systems but also to collect, arrange and present results from various survey sensors

Job Responsibilities

• Lead by example and place Quality, Health & Safety, Security, and the protection of the Environment as core values while never intentionally placing employees, our processes, customers, or the communities in which we live and work at risk.
• Assist in the mobilization and demobilization of various vessels for offshore survey projects.
• Repair, preventative maintenance and testing of equipment offshore as required.
• Assist in performing calibration of survey sensors and equipment conforming to established calibration standards.
• Complete all logbook, fault reports and administrative duties according to Fugro’s guidelines.
• Support and encourage continuous improvement of the company’s processes, including safety program and quality management system.

Job Requirements

• Legally authorized to work in Canada, without restrictions.
• Possess or be able to obtain a valid passport.
• Possess current driver’s license with acceptable motor vehicle record.
• Possess a degree in Engineering Technology or electronics and IT related discipline.
• Have experience or familiarity with the operation, repair and maintenance of some of the equipment listed above.
• Basic networking / IT skills.
• Have knowledge of commonly used survey sensors, e.g. GNSS, Gyro, MRU, USBL.
• Have knowledge of the principles of real-time positioning, data acquisition and data QC.
• Have experience in fault finding and reporting.
• Have knowledge of and ideally some experience with operating online survey software packages.
