Make an impact with our National Public Affairs team as a Manager in Ontario. This unique team of professionals from across Canada specializes in building relationships with key government, public service and MNP internal stakeholders across service lines to build awareness of MNP’s service offerings.
We find innovative ways to enhance communication with elected officials, civil service and public sector stakeholders to build MNP’s presence in the Ontario and Eastern Canada marketplace.
Working with other Public Affairs leaders at MNP as a trusted advisor, you’ll provide comprehensive analysis and strategic guidance that empowers our internal leaders and team in our 43 Ontario offices.

Responsibilities
- Provide regular analysis and insights to identify political, legislative, and regulatory trends that impact our firm or clients;
- Develop portfolio expertise within the PA group as it relates to the Ontario and Eastern Canada market place
- Support firm leadership in identifying profile opportunities and supporting thought leadership pieces and consideration submissions to government;
- Ensure compliance with lobbyists acts;
- Support Public Sector Business Development planning across the regions;
- Proactive opportunity identification translating of insights into solutions; and,
- Business intelligence, trend analysis, and research.
- Facilitate collaboration with client engagement teams prior to commencement of client work to discuss roles and responsibilities, risk areas and project metrics
- Think strategically about client needs by quickly gaining an understanding of their business, their organization, operating environment and key risks
- Identify ways to maximize the relationship with clients and deliver added value
- Maintain high quality control by reviewing work done from other team members for accuracy and completeness; provide feedback to team members
- Develop a thorough understanding of MNP’s services, businesses and industry
- Raise awareness of MNP through discussions at community events including client and company sponsored functions
- Develop and maintain a network with the public sector and broader community to support and identify business development opportunities
- Assist in and support ongoing improvements in project methods and development of technical knowledge
- Engage regularly with the national public affairs team to share intelligence, leading practices, opportunities, and leads.
- Assist in promotion of MNP’s services through the support and development of presentations, articles, workshops or participating in community activities
- Mentor, motivate and coach team members towards professional and personal development by setting clear expectations, providing feedback and addressing performance issues promptly
- Maintain flexibility to travel, as necessary
Skills and Experience
- A bachelor’s degree in business, economics, public policy or political science or other related field
- Completion of a master’s degree in public policy, public affairs or related field is considered an asset
- 7 to 10 years of senior political (e.g. Director of policy or Chief of Staff type roles), government experience in a Provincial or Federal Government Environment and / or Government relations experience.
- Experience in Public Affairs analysis, solution development, client communications, decision making, documentation, managing expectations and team leadership
- Experience in business development and market intelligence is considered an asset
