Project Manager - Structural Engineering

We are seeking an Intermediate to Senior Structural Engineer who is passionate about managing projects, along with client and business development.

Role Overview

In this role, you will play a pivotal role in a range of exciting structural design projects while collaborating with a diverse, multi-disciplinary team.

Your primary responsibilities will include not only technical project work but also client engagement and business development activities.

While much of your work will be office-based, you should be prepared for occasional travel to project sites. Additionally, for the right candidate, we are open to considering placement in one of our other offices in Ontario.

Key Responsibilities

As a Client-Focused Structural Engineer, you will :

  • Prepare reports, conduct research, and perform technical calculations.
  • Provide leadership and technical guidance to junior team members and support staff, ensuring design quality standards are met.
  • Proactively advance design and modeling techniques to support designers, project managers, and technicians.
  • Collaborate with or lead multi-office and / or multi-disciplinary design teams to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Conduct field investigations.
  • Prepare contract drawings and specifications.
  • Create functional, preliminary, and detailed engineering designs using AutoCAD Civil 3D.
  • Develop cost estimates, tender packages, and project documents.
  • Engage with clients and deliver presentations as needed.
  • Assist in client development, project budgeting, and proposal preparation.
  • Ensure the timely delivery of high-quality project deliverables to meet client expectations.
  • Support project / client managers in establishing appropriate timelines and work closely with design teams across our offices.
  • Conduct analysis and design structural projects, including commercial, public, and residential sites.
  • Coordinate the structural design process, including preliminary and detailed design drawings, and prepare related reports while maintaining communication with clients, sub-consultants, and contractors.
  • Possess experience in reviewing structural damage and preparing reports for litigation and insurance claims (an asset).
  • Fulfill any other duties as assigned.

Professional Qualifications

To excel in this role, you should have the following qualifications, experience, and skills :

  • Successful completion of a post-Secondary program in structural engineering or equivalent.
  • Membership in good standing with Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO) or The Ontario Association of Certified Engineering Technicians and Technologists (OACETT).
  • A minimum of 5 years of related work experience.
  • Proficiency in CAD and BIM processes.
  • Familiarity with the Ontario Building Code.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and strong mathematical aptitude.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Outstanding organizational skills, including the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced, multi-disciplinary consulting environment.
