Controller Property Accounting

DutiesandResponsibilities :

Maintain the company s system of accounts for all propertymanagementfunctions.

Review analyse and evaluate performance of properties in comparisonto budget and historicaldata.

Review and distribute the monthly property financial statements toproperty managers and corporate accounting and senior managementteam.

Review and answer questions on monthly financial statements toseniormanagement.

Participate and contribute important financial information in themonthly managerialmeetings.

Directand manage the preparation of timely accurate internal and externalfinancial statement and property management reports within the MIS(Yardi or Sitelink) by Excel by PowerPoint or any other software asrequired.

Manage and oversee internal and external accounting controlfunctions for property management accounting and operatingissues.

Oversee and manage collection of property accountsreceivable.

Oversee and manage payment of property accountspayable.

Responsible review and approve all property management accountingcheque runs EFT& sign cheques for designatedaccounts.

Oversee and review of all property management bankreconciliations.

Responsible and manage the annual payments of property tax andinsurance for thePortfolio.

Recommend review and implement accounting procedures as requiredfor allproperties.

Assist and support property managers with the carrying out of theirresponsibilities.

Assist and support senior management with all property managementissues in theportfolio.

Train and direct all property management accounting staff for theproperty managementfunction.

Manage the integration of new properties into the accounting andmanagement informationsystem.

Manage the preparation of annual budgets (operating and capital)with accounting staff and property managers to ensure timelydelivery of annual rental notices totenants.

Responsible for the annual property audits and work very closelywith senior property accountants and our external auditor KPMG orother auditors untilcompletion.

Provide accounting support for property acquisitions dispositionsand the due diligenceprocess.

Qualifications / ExperienceInclude :

TheController Property Management Accounting must have stronganalytical technology leadership management and communicationsskills.

The position generally requires at least 10 years ofexperience in accounting or finance including a minimum of fiveyears in a senior management role preferably inthe realestate industry.

In addition to a professional accountingdesignation a recognized graduate degree in finance or business ispreferred. The Controller must have a thorough knowledge ofgenerally accepted accounting principles be familiar with PropertyManagement Accounting and should have held positions of increasingresponsibility in accounting.

Excellent interpersonal skills theability to develop solid and lasting business relationships and theability to provide accurate and timely information to executivemanagement are key requisites for the Controller.

Duties includeresponsibility for the preparation of financial statements;establishing and maintaining controls; supervision of the accountsreceivable accounts payable and property management accountingdepartment evaluating accounting and internal controls andproviding management with decision makinginformation
