Retail Advice and Solutions is a division of Sun Life Canada. At Sun Life Canada we’re a top provider of life, health and wealth products in the Canadian marketplace.

This role provides day-to-day leadership to the Regional Financial Planning Service team of Planning Directors, Financial Planners, Financial Planning Consultants and Regional Administrator.

A key part of this leadership is ensuring there is a consistent and professional delivery of the Estate and Financial Planning Service (EFPS) to clients and advisors.

As part of the EFPS leadership team this role will contribute to the Financial Planning Centre of Excellence, through regular discussions with both the Leader of EFPS as well as the Leader of Financial Planning Support, providing a unique lens on the work the Service delivery team is doing with clients and advisors.

Partnering with the Leader of Financial Planning Support will be important, to help identify opportunities for that team to engage advisors in further developing their financial planning capabilities.

Strong partnership with the Insurance Sales Directors and Advanced Case Managers will also be critical to ensure the successful implementation of opportunities identified by the Financial Planning Service team.

What will you do?

Contribute to SLFD sales results by ensuring appropriate estate and financial planning services are delivered to advisors within their region

Leadership & Management :

Hire, retain and manage a regional team of professional financial planners

Ensure the planning team has a high level of technical competence and expertise.

Provide professional development opportunities for planning staff

Manage performance planning and evaluation

Administer compensation and budget

Drive the culture of holistic planning within the SLFD environment

Maintain a current and thorough knowledge of estate and financial planning through research, industry related functions, etc.

Act as the voice of the Financial Planning service delivery team within the EFPS organization, through active participation at the leadership table

Actively participate in the Financial Planning Centre of Excellence as a key contributor to the ongoing development of our financial planning expertise within SLFD

Collaborate effectively with the Insurance Sales Directors and Advanced Case Managers to ensure a smooth Case Consultation process is followed for advisors and clients

Deliver seminars / presentations on advanced planning topics as needed, in collaboration with the Financial Planning Support team and Directors of Advanced Planning

What do you need to succeed?

10+ years in a financial planning or related role

One or more of the following : CFP, CLU, TEP, CPA, LLB, FEA

Expert knowledge of estate and financial planning.

Expert knowledge of industry-related issues in the estate and financial planning

Previous leadership experience and demonstrated ability to provide strong leadership.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Strong relationship management skills

Proven record of high achievement and result orientation

Experience working with a variety of financial planning softwares

Experience working with Conquest Planning would be an asset.
